Job Overview

As a Painter for our hotel, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the aesthetic appeal and quality of our property by applying paint, varnish, and other finishes to surfaces according to prescribed methods and specifications. You will work closely with the Engineering team to ensure that all painting projects are completed efficiently and to the highest standards, contributing to the overall guest experience and satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, scraping, sanding, and patching holes and cracks as needed.
  • Select appropriate paints, brushes, rollers, and other materials for each project, ensuring compatibility with surface materials and desired finish.
  • Apply paint, varnish, and other finishes to interior and exterior surfaces, including walls, ceilings, doors, windows, and furniture, using brushes, rollers, or spray guns.
  • Mix and match paint colors to achieve desired shades and tones, following color charts and specifications.
  • Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape to protect adjacent areas from paint splatter and overspray.
  • Repair and maintain painted surfaces by touching up paint chips, scratches, and other imperfections as needed.
  • Assist with minor carpentry and drywall repairs, including filling cracks and holes with spackle or putty.
  • Clean and maintain painting equipment and tools, including brushes, rollers, sprayers, and ladders, ensuring proper storage and maintenance.
  • Follow safety precautions and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team to schedule painting projects and coordinate work with other trades and departments as needed.
  • Keep accurate records of materials used, hours worked, and project completion status for reporting purposes.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and other staff members to ensure smooth workflow and project coordination.
  • Uphold cleanliness and organization in work areas, including paint storage rooms, equipment rooms, and painting staging areas.
  • Adhere to hotel policies, procedures, and safety regulations at all times, promoting a culture of safety and compliance among team members.

Reporting Relationships:

  • Reports directly to: Director of Engineering
  • Also works for: General Manager
  • Directly supervises: N/A

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proven experience as a painter, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment.
  • Knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and tools.
  • Ability to mix and match paint colors and finishes to achieve desired results.
  • Must be courteous and gracious, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work meticulously to produce high-quality finishes.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Physical stamina and ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting heavy objects.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to accommodate project deadlines and operational requirements.

Working Conditions/Environment

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • The person having this responsibility may have to lift up to 50lbs on an occasional basis
  • The person having this position may have to sit for one (1) hour, stand and/or walk, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for eight (8) hours per day
