The Deputy Director of Senior and Adult Services plans, organizes, evaluates, and directs the operations and activities of the division. Through subordinate managers and by working collaboratively, the Deputy Director is responsible for developing and managing the goals, objectives, and policies of the division and department. The Deputy Director is an executive leadership position that reports to the Director of Child, Family and Adult Services. Responsibilities include administration and oversite of the following areas:

Adult Protective Services: APS is a state mandated program for older (age 65 ) and dependent adults (age 18-64) who have experienced abuse outside of a long-term care facility.

In-Home Supportive Services: IHSS is a state mandated public entitlement program for aged, blind, and disabled individuals enrolled in Medi-Cal who need assistance to perform activities of daily living and cannot remain safely at home without such assistance.

The IHSS Public Authority Provider Payment budget unit is within IHSS Public Authority: The IHSS Public Authority assists recipients and care providers within the IHSS program and partners with IHSS on various efforts. Services include provider enrollment; provider registry; and provider and recipient education. IHSS also has an Advisory Committee that makes recommendations to the County Board of Supervisors, the Public Authority and the Department of Child, Family and Adult Services about IHSS improvements that can be made.

The Public Administrator/Guardian/Conservator: The PA/PG/PC offices serves vulnerable adults in Sacramento County under court appointed conservatorship and administers decedent estates for people who died without a will or trust. Senior Volunteer Services: SVS consists of three programs: Foster Grandparents, Retired Senior and Volunteer Services, and the Senior Companion Program. This position is a key advisor to the Director and acts for the Director within delegated authorities.
