Meridian Group, Inc. is Hiring an Estimator Near Gainesville, GA

Our client, a leader in niche market prefabricated construction products, is seeking a product/project estimator to join their growing team. This role reports to the VP of Commercial Operations and will have overall responsibilities of product/project estimating with continuous interface with external partners and internal engineering teams. 
Function
Product/project estimator will work with the pre-con manager and in-house executives as well as external stakeholders on a vast portfolio of full-cycle projects. This position will support the operations team as a key player in providing project budgets and estimates for key manufactured components within the niche market.
 
Responsibilities:
Bidding/Compliance/Process:
  • Review and assess project documents and generate project estimates.
  • Manage timeline and deliverables, ensuring bids go through appropriate levels of review/approval.
  • Assist as a key contributor for project programming.
Project Budgets:
  • Assist in establishing project budget and providing phase-based reviews.
  • Provide Value Engineering throughout the design process to maintain budget as needed.
  • Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports.
Design:
  • Meet project milestones & deliverables as applicable.
  • Participate in design meetings and provide feedback on design decisions.
  • Assess drawings, specs and design intent for completeness.
Market:
  • Maintain strong vendor, contractor, and client relationships.
  • Maintain an understanding of current market trends across all product types.
Forecasting:
  •  Assist in soliciting and compiling project costs to be measured against our historical database.
  • Database management & Report Generation:
  • Support in establishing and maintaining best practices for keeping the historical database current.
  • Assist in providing constructability reviews.
 
Personal Attributes:
 Self-directed with a strong comfort level with ambiguity.
 Exceptional time management, written and oral communication skills.
 Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
 Strong knowledge of civil and building construction markets.
 Knowledge of standard project management and estimating software (Word, Excel, MS Project,
Crew Based Estimating software, etc.)
 Data driven decision maker.
 
Desired Experience:
· 3-5 years of experience in the construction industry is desired.
· Experience in product and/or construction estimating, scheduling, and cost control.
· Experience interfacing with Designers, Architects, Clients, General Contractors, Vendors, and Subcontractors.
· Has worked in a business requiring close collaboration.
· Strong analytical/process orientation.
