Overview

The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for the implementation of a treatment plan addressing the functional needs of a variety of patient diagnoses. A level 2 Physical Therapist Assistant has proven experience in patient care and strong overall performance which furthers the department objectives of excellent patient care, quality documentation and program development.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Integrates subjective and objective data to follow an established treatment plan.
  • Utilizes exercise, physical agents, and manual techniques to address deficits.
  • Maintains a thorough record of services provided with appropriate coding and billing.
  • Communicates with other disciplines and referring providers to enhance outcomes.
  • Participates in the development of community education or professional promotional programming in the rehabilitation field annually
  • Assists in the development of new services or programs
  • Performs thorough and timely electronic documentation
  • Strengths in care delivery as evidenced by peer review feedback; consistently demonstrates advanced evaluation and treatment techniques
  • Participates actively in the PI and CQI process
  • Assists in the orientation, training and mentoring of new partners
  • Participates in cost saving initiatives within the department
  • Performs chart audits for peers
  • Takes an active role in the performance improvement process
  • Acts as a clinical instructor or mentor for students and works to continually improve the clinical education program
  • Maintain a high standard of patient care and provide effective communication between physical therapist assistants, physical therapists and the physician group
  • Plans and conducts lectures and training programs on physical therapy and related topics for medical staff, students and community groups.

Education and Experience

Graduate of an accredited program for Physical Therapy Assistants3 years of experience

Certification and Licensure

State Licensure in Wisconsin, Illinois, or both if requiredApproved CPR or BLS certification Additional certifications preferred

The Special Physical Demands are considered Essential Job Functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.This is considered heavy strength work exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally or 25-50 pounds of force frequently. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Occasionally sit, climb and balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
