Mercy House is Hiring a HR Generalist Near Santa Ana, CA

As an HR Generalist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our HR functions with a primary focus on payroll, benefits administration, and records maintenance. You will work closely with employees and management to support their needs while upholding the organization's values and policies. This position requires some travel to Orange County locations in which Mercy House operates.

Responsibilities:

I. Payroll Administration:

  • Assist the Payroll Specialist in processing payroll accurately and timely.
  • Verify and reconcile timesheets, ensuring compliance with labor laws and organizational policies.
  • Address payroll-related inquiries from employees and management, providing timely and accurate responses.
  • Collaborate with the Payroll Specialist to ensure payroll data accuracy and compliance.

II. Benefits Administration:

  • Assist the Benefits Specialist in administering employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other fringe benefits.
  • Reconcile benefit statements and invoices from vendors to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and inquiries.
  • Coordinate with benefit providers to resolve issues and ensure smooth administration.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of benefits offerings to ensure competitiveness and compliance with regulatory requirements.

III. Records Maintenance:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personal information, employment history, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Prepare reports and documentation as required by regulatory agencies or organizational policies.
  • Support audits and reviews by providing necessary documentation and information.

IV. HR Support:

  • Provide general HR support to employees and management on various HR-related matters, including policies, procedures, and employment laws.
  • Participate in HR projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing HR processes and employee experience.

V. Miscellaneous:

  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Attend quarterly trainings.
  • Enhance job performance by applying up-to-date professional and technical knowledge gained by attending seminars and conferences and reviewing professional publications.
  • Take initiative; demonstrate strong decision-making and organizational skills.
  • Initiate best practices; develop efficiency improvements.
  • Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned by your Supervisor.

Requirements:

  • 1 years in HR or a related field
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including but not limited to ADA, FMLA, FLSA, and EEO
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with candidates and hiring managers.
  • Familiarity with HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Pay: $21.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
