Function:

Under Operations leadership, ensures the efficient and cost-effective operation of the purchased goods program and sales through prompt, courteous customer communications, scheduling, receiving, communicating business metrics, and delivering of purchased goods.

Essential Responsibilities:

• A cashier is responsible for greeting customers in a prompt, friendly, and courteous 

manner, help customers in locating or selecting merchandise with the goal of providing a 

positive customer experience. 

• Operates the POS to ensure accurate and efficient sales data, price, and totaling customers 

purchase.

• Ask customer to round up purchase and explain where the money goes.

• Collects payment by accepting cash, credit card, or voucher and makes change.

• Balance cash drawer by counting cash at the beginning and end of work shift.

• Call leadership for tax exempt and employee discount purchases.

• Cleans front doors, counters, and glass frequently, dust cases, keep front of store clean, 

return shopping carts and baskets to appropriate areas, return unsold merchandise to 

proper area.

• Always maintain cash wrap and register area.

• Assists in training new cashiers.

• Cleans dressing rooms and re-hang clothes as needed.

• Adheres to all GGC and personnel policies and procedures; follow good safety practices 

including reporting safety hazards and injuries to the Team Leader Coach.

• Perform other duties as assigned by Leadership.

Qualifications:

• Able to lift (45) pounds, stand, bend, push, pull, or reach.

• Able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time.

• Able to organize and maintain cash handling procedures according to corporate policy.

• Able to read, write, communicate verbally, and perform basic mathematical skills.

• Able to maintain a positive working relationship with other team members.

• Must be able to pass a drug and criminal background check.

• Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends.

Education, Training and Experience:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred 

• Prior experience in a retail environment preferred 

• 6 months Cashiering experience preferred 

• Good interpersonal skills and customer service 

• Ability to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation 

• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationship with team leader, team 

members, customers, and donors. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: 

• Must be willing and able to work evenings and weekends, on a rotating schedule or work 

schedule based on business needs
