ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

• Plans menus for a three-week cycle menu to include the standardized menus, production notes, recipes, and select menus for each meal following the guidelines in the approved diet manual. These menus are to be approved by the Registered Dietitian. 
• Evaluates the foodservice system regularly, making recommendations that provide high standards for quality, nutritionally adequate food that meets individual patient needs and preferences.
• Develops and maintains dietary personnel policies and works with staff to follow these policies. 
• Ensure equipment is maintained per health standards and guidelines. 
• Monitor standards and monitor policies and procedures and practices for sanitation and safety; reflecting current requirements of local, state, and federal regulations. 
• Develop, maintain and use pertinent record systems. 
• Reviews in-patient medical records and completes nutrition screening and assessment forms per facility policy. 
• Reports recommendations for nutrition intervention to the charge nurse and dietary staff as appropriate. 
• Reports recommendations for diet changes or patient education to the physician. Teaches patients and family members or caregivers ordered diets prior to discharge by order of the physician or as out-patients as ordered by the physician at a later date. 
• Manages dietary team. 
• Will complete quality assurance reports for dietary. 
• Tracks inventory and purchases for dietary as needed. Works with the budget to make sure department runs efficiently and effectively with the best outcome for the patients, following the mission statement of MMH. 
• Works with staff in all departments to assure that their needs are met, and the work is completed in a timely and appropriate manner.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

• High school degree or GED preferred.
• Must have excellent communication skills and demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with patients and staff at all levels. 
• Must be resourceful in developing action plans for quality improvement
• Must have a ServSafe certification

PREFERRED:

• Minimum of 6 months dietary management experience in a health care setting
• Certified Dietary Certification (or obtain within one year of date of hire)

MELISSA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL:

Melissa Memorial Hospital is a 15-bed critical access hospital, located in Holyoke, Colorado. While being “rural” we are equipped for any situation. It is a model rural hospital with 1 operating room, surgical procedure room, 4 bay emergency room, and radiology including 64-slice CT scanner and mammography, MRI, ECHO, and Nuclear Medicine, along with other ancillary services. The hospital is co-located with a family practice clinic and retail pharmacy services. Other services include chemotherapy, general & orthopedic surgery, podiatry, cardiology, orthopedic surgery, progressive rehab services, and wound care. MMH operates a full-time EMS service and maintains a 24/7 AirLife Helicopter base.
