As a new graduate nurse with MedStar Health, you will participate in theyear-long New to Practice Nurse Residency Program, offered at all 10 ofour hospitals. Our Nurse Residency Program will provide you withseries of structured learning and practice experiences designed to assist youin your transition from a new to practice to a professional nurse and clinicalleader at the bedside. Supporting your growth and celebrating yoursuccess – we’ll be with you every step of the way.

During your careerconsultation, you will be able to discuss all four Baltimore MedStar hospitals.*In the interest of transparency, we do not have Pediatrics in the BaltimoreRegion. Not all specialty units will have new graduate positions available.
Do I need to be licensedto apply? No. We offer new graduates the option to begin inthe Graduate Nurse (GN) position or the Clinical Nurse I position.
A Clinical NurseI is a recent nursing school graduate who has successfully passed theNCLEX exam. As a licensed professional care provider, youwill assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the nursing care ofpatients from admission through discharge.

Qualifications
Education/Training: Associatedegree in nursing is required. (Associate degree graduates will berequired to enroll in an accredited Bachelor's of Nursing program within sixmonths of beginning employment and will have three years to complete theprogram.) Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a nationally accreditednursing program is preferred. Official transcripts will berequired at time of hire.
Experience: No previous experience is required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Effective verbal and writtencommunication skills. Ability to set priorities and work understress. Basic computer skills required.
License/Cert/Reg: CPR (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certificationrequired.
Graduate Nurse - No license required
Clinical Nurse I - Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state ofMaryland, or Multistate Compact state or license eligible.
