Job Title: Patient Billing and Follow-Up Customer Service Representative
Location: Camden, NJ
Job Overview:
As a Patient Billing and Follow-Up Customer Service Representative, you will be an integral part of our call center team, responsible for managing patient inquiries, complaints, and payment follow-ups. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including insurance companies, office managers, and directors, to research and resolve billing issues. Your primary objective will be to ensure timely resolution of patient concerns while maintaining a high level of customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Handle inbound calls from patients regarding billing inquiries, complaints, and payment follow-ups.
  2. Research and investigate billing issues by pulling benefit information, contacting insurance companies, and communicating with relevant stakeholders.
  3. Open and close claims as necessary, documenting all interactions and resolutions accurately.
  4. Provide excellent customer service to patients, demonstrating empathy and professionalism, especially when dealing with irate patients.
  5. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate billing and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
  6. Maintain proficiency in medical terminology and billing procedures to effectively address patient inquiries and concerns.
  7. Adhere to company policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and privacy standards.
  8. Participate in training sessions, including Epic training if required, to enhance job knowledge and skills.
Skills and Qualifications:
Must-Have:
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle challenging situations sensitively.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and billing processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Nice-to-Have:
  • Experience with Epic or other healthcare management systems.
  • Prior experience in a call center or patient accounting role.
