Correctional Medical Scheduler

Correctional Medical Scheduler Job Responsibilities:

A Correctional Medical Scheduler for a busy inmate medical scheduling division. This is an ideal position for a Medical Assistant, CNA, EMT, or LPN to shift to an office position. Primary duty will be scheduling medical appointments and requesting and retrieving medical records from provider offices and data entry. The position requires a high level of written email correspondence with the federal government and medical providers.

Position Description:

  • Schedules, reschedules, and cancels inmate medical appointments
  • Provides instructions to prisons to ensure that inmate patients are prepared for examinations and procedures
  • Provides telephonic and written customer support
  • Maintains a calendar and utilizes technology to maximize the efficiency of the scheduling process
  • Request and retrieve medical records from treating providers
  • Scan and/or file medical records into patient electronic health record
  • Transmit correspondence and medical records via mail, email or fax
  • Demonstrate skills in accuracy and multitasking with a strong attention to detail
  • Must use medical terminology experience to review medical records for plan of care to include follow-up care needed
  • Must ensure files are complete with all appropriate documentation
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Must be polite, helpful, and work well with others
  • Additional duties as required

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or higher
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience scheduling appointments and/or procedures in a multi-specialty clinic, provider's office, or hospital setting
  • Strong working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Computer competency and intermediate proficiency in MS Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Clear written and spoken communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines is critical in this role

Logistics

This position is located in Jacksonville, FL. The hours are 8:00am-5:00pm M-F. Opportunities for hybrid work will be considered once training commences. Will consider applicants outside of the Jacksonville, FL area on a case by case basis.
