Job Title Communications Manager, Events and Exhibits

Job Classification Exempt

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage NASA exhibitions, multi-center / multi-state
  • Oversee planning and execution of events in coordination with NASA personnel and requesting organizations
  • Plan, organize, staff, and execute activities that support outreach efforts (for example planning, coordinating, and executing, school visits, special tours, exhibits, demonstrations, speaking engagements.)
  • Develops outreach event plans
  • Handles multiple and complex projects simultaneously under tight timelines and changing priorities
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks.
  • May direct, guide, and coordinate activities of a team/teams of technical personnel performing complex activities in a supervisor role
  • Responsible for maintaining long-range calendars and coordinating with event coordinators to ensure event milestones are complete
  • Responsible for providing operational, information management and administrative support for all events.
  • Responsible for coordinating and supporting event leads, and tracking project objectives and milestones
  • Duties include providing all necessary project management and support functions
  • Ability to bring unique ideas and find efficiencies
  • Experience with CAD, event & exhibit design a plus
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with appropriate NASA stakeholders, event and exhibit staff, and across functional areas
  • Responsible for managing deliverables and ensuring quality assurance standards are met across functional requirements
  • Responsible for directly supervising NCS employees
  • Responsible for monitoring and recommending emerging communications channels and practices
  • Responsible for generating routing and / or ad-hoc reports
Job Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of specialization from an accredited college or university;
  • Fifteen (15) years of relevant experience (e.g., event coordination/planning on a regional, multi-state, and/or national level)
  • Advanced oral and written communications
  • Advanced writing and editing
  • Advanced problem solving
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • May be required to undergo a standard background check along with verification of education requirements

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described herein are representative of those which may need to be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Employees must possess the ability to work in an office environment.

If required, employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time to visit other company sites. Must have hearing and speech to

communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. This position may require an employee to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance, reach, push, and pull. The employee may also be required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
