MedAire is Hiring a VP/General Manager, Americas Supply Division Near Phoenix, AZ

About the role

The purpose of this role is to manage the Arizona Distribution Centre and activities across the Americas region including being a conduit for the JV with Aerosafety in Brazil and any future Supply Division entities in the Americas region. The job holder will be responsible for growing business in the Aviation and Maritime (MedAire) sectors as well as fulfilling the orders generated by Intl.SOS according to agreed service levels with the Medical Services (MS) and Government Services (GS) Business Lines.


The Key Performance Indicators (KPI) of the role are:

  • Growth in Revenue, Gross Profit, and EBIT
  • G&A management according to budget
  • Working Capital Management
  • Quality of Service including, Turnaround time (TAT), number of complaints/recalls
  • Productivity Improvements
  • COGS savings
  • New and Upsell Business Development

Key responsibilities

Provide effective leadership of the organization in a manner consistent with International SOS’ vision and core values.


Digitalization and Process Improvement:

The VP / GM Americas will be responsible for optimizing the Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to align with our operations, while continuously enhancing productivity and operational efficiencies. This role will focus on cost reduction by streamlining processes and workflows, driving the digitalization of operations, and eliminating paper-based systems.


WMS and ERP Optimization

  • Evaluate and adapt WMS and ERP systems to better align with the evolving operational needs.
  • Continuously monitor and improve these systems to maintain and enhance productivity and efficiencies.


Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency by improving processes and warehouse workflows.
  • Implement strategies to reduce operational costs through process optimization.


Digitalization and Paperless Operations

  • Lead the transition towards a more digital operation, reducing reliance on paper-based systems.
  • Implement digital solutions to streamline and modernize various operational aspects.

People Management and Leadership:

In addition to operational excellence, effective people management is critical for success in this role. The VP / GM Americas must build and lead effective and high-performing teams, fostering a strong culture based on performance and team spirit and providing development opportunities for all employees through a servant leadership approach.

Financial Management:

The role includes financial responsibilities that encompass managing the P&L and Balance Sheet of the Americas region. This involves budget preparation, forecasting, regular business reviews, and management of accounts receivable, inventory, and working capital targets. It also necessitates constant review of backlog and actual performance to ensure accurate month-end forecasting.


Service Quality:

As the VP / GD Americas, you will be accountable for maintaining high service levels in the Distribution Centre. This includes overseeing compliance with pharmaceutical regulations, ensuring the best manufacturing and wholesale practices in line with ISO and GxP standards, and optimizing warehouse and manufacturing operations. Collaboration with the Supply Division corporate team to share and implement best practices is crucial. Additionally, managing staff, performance, team building, and retention is integral to maintaining service quality.


Client Satisfaction:

  • The VP / GM Americas must ensure that service levels and client satisfaction for main clients, including Aviation & Maritime (MedAire), Medical Services, and Government Services meet or exceed agreed-upon targets.


Other duties as assigned:

This section signifies a readiness to undertake any additional responsibilities or tasks as delegated by the organization to contribute to the overall success of the Supply Division and International SOS.


Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Degree level as a minimum.
  • Certification within LEAN methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, and PDCA.
  • Excellent business acumen and ability to work with different stakeholders.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in MS Teams, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work in a matrix, multicultural, and global organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.
  • Excellent people manager, open to direction and collaborative work style, and committed to getting the job done.
  • Have a working understanding of quality management systems, health, and safety best practices, and legislation.
  • Previous hands-on experience with ERP / MRP / WMS environment.
  • Dynamic, positive, and enthusiastic with the ability to think laterally and act through reasoned decision-making.
  • Possess the ability to implement and manage change in the business.

Required Work Experience

  • 10 years’ experience in business management.
  • Previous hands-on experience with ERP / MRP and WMS systems.
  • Strong understanding of P&L, balance sheets, team management and, stakeholder management.
  • Strong ability to lead changes.
  • Demonstrated experience in setting up an infrastructure/activity from the start in procurement/supply chain.
  • Successful experience in managing fast-paced distribution centers that are very transactional (and highly reactive) with low monthly backlog.
  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives.
  • High comfort level working in a diverse environment.
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace.
  • Excels at operating in a fast-paced, community environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with customers.

Required Languages

  • Excellent written and oral English Language. Knowledge of Portuguese or other languages is a plus.


Travel / Rotation Requirements

  • Regular worldwide travel required.
