Job Description
MDG has an exciting opportunity for a Vice President of Accounts who will report directly to the President and work with the executive leadership team to support all client management, service delivery and business development efforts across MDG’s accounts nationally. This role is responsible for leading and inspiring account teams to provide great work product and client satisfaction across the agency’s suite of services. They will enhance and standardize operational and communication processes, internally and externally, and lead a talented team of account directors and managers to deliver top tier solutions and service to clients. They should be strategic, disciplined, well organized, process-oriented, an innovative thinker and have a broad understanding of marketing services, digital / traditional advertising and analytics.
Responsibilities:
Overall
• Collaborate with entire agency, lead agency account directors and managers, and liaise with creative, digital technology, media and analytics teams to create key insights and translate them into actionable integrated marketing programs
• Play a key role in managing the coordination and communication of all advertising, marketing and business development efforts nationally
• Manage internal and external stakeholders to ensure cohesion across channels and deliver on strategy, deadlines and budget management
• Monitor performance and impact of all strategies to maximize effectiveness and proper client communication
• Develop relationships with client’s senior level counterparts and jointly handle unfamiliar problems, situations, or escalations
• Lead client discovery process, gathering all marketing information and historical learnings
• Understand the client’s marketing objectives and develop measurements for success, including ROI and other metrics as needed
• Ensure clients’ media and marketing needs are addressed and analyzed in order to develop an effective media strategy
• Maintain awareness of new media, relevant industry and market trends; develop analyses and reports regarding those trends; and communicate internally and to clients appropriate action steps regarding those trends
• Assist in developing and presenting annual client reviews
• Assist in establishing, negotiating and managing client agreements with agency
• Oversees overall profitability of accounts
• Attend and assist with new client business development meetings and strategic direction
• Work with the President to develop and maintain consistent and efficient processes and communication
Client Success
• Collaborate across all agency departments, monitor success metrics, and ensure client goals and deadlines are being met
• Work to develop effective policies, procedures and processes to keep ahead of changing client needs and industry trends
• Assist internal staff in creating strategic direction, demographic and market analysis and recommendations for successful strategies
• Manage performance of Account Management team, recommend changes to Agency resources on an account to ensure success, as appropriate
• Oversee development and presentation of account strategy and growth sessions
• Attend and/or lead certain critical client presentations and ensure account team’s preparedness
• Lead new client onboarding alongside account management teams
Creative, Media and Digital Technology
• Participate in the development of annual/quarterly creative strategies, and aid in presenting to clients as needed
• Attend and assist with large-scale production projects, as needed (e.g., TV shoots)
• Assist account management teams with developing creative briefs
• Monitor quality, timeliness and cost efficiency of agency’s creative product
• Work with media team on annual planning process, development of strategic direction, guidelines and budget parameters for marketing plans
• Monitor media team’s execution to ensure delivery of clients’ desired results, recommending changes to planning / buying process and resources, as necessary
• Oversee the account team’s planning of annual, quarterly and monthly content and media calendars to ensure timely marketing campaigns
• Work with digital technology team in development of technology solutions that meet client needs, timelines, and budgets
• Oversee and ensure excellent communication for client success and manage communication of any issues that arise
• Provide strategic direction and formulate innovative solutions to existing digital technology, marketing and advertising problems
• Work with Account Directors in development of digital technology plans (annual technology roadmap, feature enhancements, opportunity plans, etc.)
• Work with Account Directors and Account Managers in development of new product launch plans
• Develop and present various plans to client stakeholders, as appropriate
Financial
• Assist in development of annual P&L budgets across client accounts
• Assist in monitoring agency billings
• Assist in development of staffing recommendations
• Monitor profitability of accounts and make recommendations for any changes
• Lead annual contract renewal discussions in support of agency growth
HR
• Monitor and ensure staffing needs on accounts are met
• Maintain strong ties for recruiting best personnel
• Develop and oversee training and onboarding methodology for account management team
• Assist in development and implementation of training programs and coaching sessions
• Aid in recruiting, interviewing and hiring new candidates for the account team
New Business Development
• Work with the Executive Leadership Team on new business opportunities, including preparing presentations and presenting to prospective clients
• Identify and facilitate business-building efforts and strategiesRequirements
  • 10 years experience as a Director, VP or similar leadership role in a full-service agency
  • At least 3 years of direct client service leadership experience
  • A strong account management background, including experience managing client accounts and supervising account teams
  • Willing to role sleeves up and work alongside team members
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications or relevant, equivalent experience
  • Proven leadership abilities and managerial experience as a disciplined team leader
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the overall media environment
  • Experience with healthcare services, preferred
  • Experienced marketing with hands-on integrated marketing experience.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks while working independently
  • Strong attention to detail, well organized and process-oriented
  • A strong sense of urgency and commitment to get the job done quickly and with high quality
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with people at all levels of an organization
