The Bartender at the Aloft Leawood Overland Park provides customized beverage service to each of the hotel’s restaurant/bar customer in a friendly, energetic, and timely manner. Responsible for assuring the guest is having a great time and/or relaxing while at the bar. Associates are passionate about guest service and can communicate effectively and multitask. This position will be for Sunday and Monday evenings, 5:00 p.m. to midnight.Responsibilities:Maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar areaStock beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments, and produceMaintain stock, cutting, and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishablesGreet guests in a courteous and friendly mannerPromote and document orders for drinksMix, garnish, and present drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practice portion controlAttend monthly departmental meetingsInput orders into POS and creates a check for each guestReceive cash from guests, makes any change needed, verifies validity of charges, records charges, and insures vouchers are properly executed, in order to balance all moneysLock up and store all beverages, food and other equipment items, deposits cash drops and secures bank at end of shift as neededSanitize and clean in and around the bar areaWork effectively and efficiently with the service and kitchen teamsCommunicate any challenges, guest complaints or requests to supervisors and managersObserve all safety procedures during the execution of assigned dutiesMaintain a positive and professional attitude towards guests, co-workers, and managementArrive at scheduled start time in appropriate uniform and ready to workOther duties as assignedRequirements:Ability to work a flexible schedule, including shift work, weekends, and holidaysLegal ability to serve alcohol in the StateKnowledge of state and local guidelines regarding service of alcoholKnowledge of drink preparation, previous bartender experience preferredComputational skills to process guest paymentAbility to lift trays of beverages or food items weighing up to 30 pounds regularlyHigh energy and interpersonal skills
