The Communication Specialist on the Customer Distribution Experience (CDx) team within Pharmaceutical Solutions and Service (PSaS) will be responsible for creating impactful internal and external communications that support CDx's business and marketing objectives leveraging multiple channels. One of the primary responsibilities of this role will be to create compelling, effective communication content to help guide McKesson's drug shortage response.
The candidate must be an excellent communicator who can build collaborative relationships across a variety of stakeholders, and one who is comfortable presenting and supporting recommendations to various levels of leadership.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build and foster collaborative relationships within CDx, Generics, Strategic Pricing & Manufacturer Relations (SPMR), Procurement and Sales Segments, Segment Marketing and PSaS Communications, Public Affairs, Legal along with the Drug Shortage Response Hub Working Group or others to maintain an open two-way dialogue and stay informed on key drivers of drug shortages in the industry and the impacts to McKesson and our customers. Work alongside the various supplier relationship teams as they monitor supply trends for McKesson and assess current and potential risk to determine action. Engage with these teams to ensure actions taken are consistent with the needs of the business. Adapt and learn how drug shortages impact the various business segments to make communication recommendations.
  • Synthesize information and/or data to draft communication plans or strategies to create/publish timely messages leveraging key communication platforms/channels. Be aware of the various Internal and external information sources and to synthesize communications and make recommendations on what messages and platform/channels should be leveraged to share the latest information.
  • Proactively communicate drug shortages and product availability as needed internally and to customers to inform of potential disruptions to supply chain and delivery. Interface with segment sales and marketing teams to ensure field sales teams and customer support are aware of actions taken to mitigate shortages. Based on feedback be able to reactively respond/follow-up.
  • In helping guide McKesson's drug shortage response while protecting McKesson's brand and reinforcing our customer commitment through various ways- issues management, supporting communications for key business leaders, presentations for conferences and educating business partners or customers. Grow in role and gain an understanding of happenings within McKesson and in the industry as it relates to drug shortages.
  • Draft and implement initiative/project communication strategies & plans in support of the business, the CDx narrative and internal partners/stakeholders. Work individually or with a team in recommending action, scheduling and planning projects, estimating cost, if applicable, and managing projects to completion. Work across CDx functional teams and business groups to effectively prioritize work. Research, source, develop and publish content and visual elements for use on websites, in emails, presentations, videos, digital formats, print materials, internal social media platforms and events. Create and maintain all communication channels, collateral and tools.
  • Acquire and maintain a detailed knowledge of the company's and CDx's values and strategies Build out a skill set/knowledge in the drug shortage space that advances communication across our numerous platforms within PSaS and the Enterprise.

Minimum Requirement
Degree or equivalent and typically 4 years of relevant experience in communications and/or marketing
Education
  • 4-year degree in business, communications, marketing, journalism or related field or equivalent experience
Critical Skills
  • 4 years communications experience
  • Ability to synthesize detailed information to provide insights to stakeholders.
  • Copy writing for marketing pieces across multiple mediums
  • Experience working with synchronous and asynchronous communication software such as Microsoft Office/365 with exceptional proficiency in PowerPoint, Publisher, Web & Video Conferencing, Mobile Device Management
  • Detail-oriented with strong project management skills
  • Strong relationship building and strategic partnering skills with the ability to work across various levels of the organization

Working Conditions:
  • We offer a hybrid work schedule, based in our Fort Worth, TX office.
  • The majority of our "nonessential onsite" employees will have the flexibility to predominantly work from home. With this increased flexibility around in-office presence, we want to maximize our time together and leverage the office as a destination. We will come to the office to meet intentionally for important events and activities, like onboarding and training, quarterly performance check-ins, staff meetings and team building, as well as brainstorming and strategy sessions.
The position offers a hybrid work schedule with mandatory onsite meetings. Remote location base in the Ft. Worth area only. Relocation away from Ft. Worth now or in the future will not be considered. Only candidates currently located in the Dallas Ft. Worth area will be considered.

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.
Our Base Pay Range for this position
$75,100 - $125,100
