Job Summary: The General Manager’s role is to lead the branch location to operate profitably, safely, and efficiently by providing excellent customer service, hiring and developing members of their operational and sales teams, and creating and executing sales strategies, to obtain established business goals.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: (additional duties may be assigned)

• Responsible for the profitability and financial performance of the branch. Achieve sales, gross margin and expense goals based on current budget; Review financial results with management.
• Build a high-performance team by recruiting, interviewing and selecting qualified candidates for employment positions as needed.
• Provide strong mentorship, coaching, and guidance to existing Associates that leads to high employment retention.
• Drive Sales Professionals to achieve/exceed Established Sales and Margin and Market Share goals within our Equipment and Rental departments.
• Define and develop an effective customer strategy that ensures continued long-term business growth and profitability.
• Identify new sales opportunities and build new client relationships.
• Facilitate and ensure strong relations with our key vendor partners.
• Ensure department personnel receive ongoing technical and professional skill development training.
• Champion the proper use of CRM database and tools to track performance.
• Build strong and collaborative relationships with other members of the company’s Leadership and Operations Team.
• Manage and maintain a cooperative atmosphere between sales, service and parts department personnel.
• Coordinate with the Controller and Credit Manager to ensure departmental adherence to all company credit and receivable management policies.
• Work with the VP of Sales Heavy Equipment with matters needed; aid with all marketing and sales efforts, including advertisements, promotional items, trade shows, and association memberships.
• Monitor market trends and provide regular competitor analysis.

Qualifications

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; with 5-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Physical Requirements: Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Moderate levels of climbing, balancing, and lifting up to 75 pounds using safe methods with equipment or assistance.
