Overview

Position Summary

The Vice President of Sales is the driving force of the sales effort for the entire Metals organization. This Metals Leadership Team (MLT) position leads a national and regional sales team and establishes performance expectations. Collaboration with your sales and operations teams is key to building long-term profitable partnerships. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing sales initiatives for new products and markets, provide market intel to the executive management team to drive strategy, along with other performance driven objectives. The position requires talented leadership skills, demonstrated humility in previous management positions, as well as a drive to grow and learn as a person and executive.

Responsibilities

Job Duties

  • Develop/Manage efficient documented sales processes that are sustainable, and consistently implemented across all inside/outside sales divisions.
  • Execute multiple strategies across the Metal’s Business sales channel’s grow existing business as well as create new markets for accelerated growth in new key sectors.
  • Establish/Maintain/Co-Own key customer and supplier relationships.
  • Contribute, develop, and implement market winning strategic initiatives through metals business collaboration.
  • Seek improvement opportunities and develop success-driven sales plans/strategies to achieve sales goals.
  • Coach Regional Sales Managers and National Account Managers relative to the strategic and tactical implementation of customer-specific market plans while providing feedback for their professional development.
  • Recruit/Hire sales teams who are a cultural fit and who enhance the existing team.
  • Review product/service offerings, determine their effectiveness through KPI’s, and report findings to MLT.
  • Identify/Develop driven talent and work with Lifelong Learning to create effective sales training programs.
  • Manage the Metals Divisions’ CRM to access information that allows reps/business partners to make informed/profit-maximizing decisions.
  • Review customer activity, anticipate consumer needs, and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Drive collaboration with the management and operations teams across the enterprise.
  • Utilize the full complement of Company financial documents to drive national/regional decision making to maximize efficiency, profitability, and cash positions.
  • Gather/Maintain accurate market intel and routinely provide feedback to the MLT that helps enhance strategic initiatives.
  • Promote company products and services through the sales organization and technical department.
  • Own/Implement our metals customer pricing strategy.
  • Routinely collaborate with the Mazzella Companies’ Executive Vice President of Sales to ensure consistency in approach and scalability of initiatives across the .
  • Collaborate with the Revenue Team to align on programs/initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.

Experience & Skills

  • Experience in a company with total Sales responsibility and authority.
  • Minimum of 10 years of prior industrial sales experience with proven experience meeting and exceeding sales goals.
  • Demonstrated experience leading highly effective sales teams.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience working in a selling role with sales technology and CRM software.
  • Metal roofing products experience is preferred.

  • Ability to prepare reports on sales forecasts, market trends, competitor’s actions, and new product developments
  • Results-oriented (“hunter” mentality) who is detail oriented, self-motivated, and disciplined
  • A proven track record of building/maintaining effective customer relationships within different organizations to meet/exceed established goals for product sales
  • Extensive negotiating and opportunity closing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to positively lead, motivate, manage, and hold accountable field sales team members
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of financial metrics for use as key performance indicators
  • Tenacious/Galvanizing when working all stages of the sales process
  • Proven track record of influencing others
  • In-depth knowledge of selling strategies/methods, as well as team member motivation techniques
  • Track record of excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of strategic planning, systemic thinking, and navigating an organizational structure
  • Ability to travel 50-70% of the year

Preferred Skills

  • Able to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Demonstrated organizational abilities, prior experience utilizing a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system for business information tracking
  • Able to demonstrate analytical, conceptual, and planning skills
