Mayor and City Council of Baltimore is Hiring a Remote Community Aide - Baltimore City Employee Retirement System

THIS IS A NON-CIVIL SERVICE POSITION POSTING DATE: 03/19/2024 CLOSING DATE: 06/19/2024 AT 12:00AM MIDNIGHT SALARY: $17.50 Hourly CLASS DESCRIPTION The Retirement Systems (ERS) is seeking individuals who are dependable and customer service focused, to fill temporary non-civil service Community Aide/Clerical positions. This is a position of trust. Individuals selected for this position will be required to pass a criminal background check. Successful candidates will work a conventional workweek. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provides general office support including typing, filing, and completion of simple forms. Copies, sorts, and files records related to office activities, business transactions, and other matters Operates office machines including document imaging equipment to create electronic files Prepares index and stores images according to organizational guidelines. Uses various systems and resources for resolving customer inquiries. Performs various other duties as needed or assigned. Work is performed in an office setting. Incumbents receive close supervision from an administrative superior. Work involves lifting and moving boxes short distances, reaching above shoulders, or bending to retrieve boxes/files, and prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent. AND EXPERIENCE: One year of customer service and clerical experience KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites - Intermediate level and above A strong work ethic and proactive critical thinking skills Ability to deal courteously with employees at all levels of government and to work effectively with varying temperament, both in person and by telephone Keen attention to detail and sound judgement Effective communication skills both verbal and written. Ability to understand and follow complex written and oral instructions. Basic knowledge of accounting terminology and spreadsheets NOTE: Those eligible candidates who are under final consideration for appointment to positions in this class will be required to authorize the release of criminal conviction information.
