In our ongoing pursuit of ensuring quality and excellence standards of the highest degree, Maven is searching for a Senior Software Engineer to join our engineering team.

As a senior software engineer working at Maven, you will be responsible for building products that will disrupt one of the nation’s largest sectors and bring the trucking industry into the modern age. We are looking for passionate, skilled, entrepreneurially minded engineers who bring fresh perspectives and ideas, have a passion for new technologies, obsess over design and performance, love tackling new and complex problems, and want to deliver great, beautiful products.

Our products require rock-solid backend systems that can scale to large numbers of users as well as elegant and thoughtfully designed web applications to display mission critical data. As a full stack engineer, you’ll be responsible for owning projects end-to-end. This includes creating services, infrastructure, and tooling, as well as integrating that backend system to our web portal/analytics platform to display this data in a meaningful way to the end user. This position is a fulltime exempt role, and the ideal candidate is based in Pittsburgh, PA.

What You’ll Be Doing 

• Design, architect, and build, scalable, performant distributed systems.
• Own the front-end development for one or more of our products and collaborate with designers, engineers, and product managers to launch new products, iterate on existing features, and build amazing user experiences.
• Architect efficient and reusable front-end systems and components to build complex web applications that are delightful, secure, performant, and accessible.
• Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies and architectures as we grow and our needs change.
• Take full ownership of your creations by participating in all steps of the development process, from design to verification, release, and support.
• Become an active participant in technical design and code reviews with your team.

More About You 

• Bachelor's degree, Master’s Degree or Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical discipline.
• 4 years of professional software engineering work experience in both frontend and backend systems.
• Strong architecture and system design skills.
• Excellent coding skills in one or more system languages (Python, Node, java, C , Go, etc).
• Strong experience with various database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, Redis, etc).
• Strong understanding of javascript ES6, HTML, and CSS.
• Proficiency with modern web technologies but understand the fundamentals.
• You have an incredible desire to deliver impactful results every day.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Bonus Points for Having

• An eye for great design and UX.
• Experience with AWS, distributed systems, and micro-service orientated architectures.
• Experience with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Familiarity with the command-line, source control, and testing frameworks.
• Experience working with frameworks and tools such as React, Redux, socket.io and Webpack.
• Experience working with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
