Work in a dynamic office environment over the summer supporting and facilitating the successful transition of new students to MCLA. The Summer 2024 New Student Onboarding Ambassador will have a unique role working between three offices: Admission, New Student Programs, and Academic Advising & Support to onboard and welcome our new students.
General Responsibilities:
Assist with day-to-day office projects when necessary, including data entry, mailings, bulletin board postings, filing, answering phones, copying and general staff support.
Office coverage and assistance as needed for other office personnel, including front end support.
Specific Office Responsibilities:
Office of New Student Programs & Family Engagement (65%)
Assist with summer new student engagement through connection in the Online Orientation Canvas Course and July's in-person Engagement Days
Design/creation of virtual and printed material for new students.
Create flyers, posters, printed materials, and other content as needed.
Office of Academic Advising & Support (30%)
Work with incoming first-year students to support fall course registration by hosting virtual individual meetings with students. Complete post-registration form following each individual meeting.
This may include weeknight meetings with new students.
Attend registration trainings with Academic Advising & Support staff as well as regular check-ins (meetings and via email).
Learn and support the Offices implementation of EAB Navigate, a student success management platform.
Create informational videos, guides, websites, mailings, and more to support the implementation of the student application for both new and returning students.
Update and enhance MCLA Success Zone materials.
Office of Admission (5%)
Assist in the execution of Admission Saturday Tours (each Summer 2024 New Student Onboarding Ambassador would cover one Saturday tour per month). Responsible for representing the College in a positive manner as well as conducting campus tours.
May be responsible for following up with prospective, accepted, and enrolling students including, but not limited to postcards, phone calls, and emails. Also participate in social media outreach.
Job Requirements:
A well-rounded knowledge of the MCLA campus, majors, academic support resources, and extracurricular activities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong computer and social media skills (Microsoft Office and other layout and design programs).
Strong Degree Works and Core Curriculum knowledge.
Good organizational skills and positive personality.
Ability to work with structure and independently and conduct themselves in a professional manner.
Conduct, academic standing, and history will be considered.
Must be available July 9 and July 10, 2024, and specific Saturdays throughout the summer.
Summer Housing is available at a reduced rate for those students who have on-campus jobs.
Additional Information:
This position is open only to students currently enrolled at MCLA.
