The position of Maintainer I is responsible for performing general janitorial, custodial and minor repair work in connection with the cleaning and maintenance of a building, or a group of buildings.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge of materials, equipment and methods commonly employed in housekeeping and cleaning operations.
Ability to operate and care for electric sweepers, mop wringers, brushes and other household cleaning equipment.
Ability to make general repairs of a simple nature.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and to follow simple oral and written instructions.
Physical ability to withstand the strain of performing manual tasks.
Working knowledge of the type, properties, quality and uses of cleaning supplies and equipment and their effect on the various types of construction and finishes; experience in institutional housekeeping and allied equipment.
Ability to deal tactfully with others.
Successful experience in janitorial and related cleaning fields, preferred.
Ability to work a flexible schedule.
