The Athletics Department at MCLA invites applications for a part-time, Head Men's & Women's Cross Country Coach. The Head Coach is responsible for the overall management of the Division III Cross Country program in accordance with Department and College objectives. The Head Coach will plan, coach, and develop individual and team technical and tactical skills. This position develops a plan to recruit quality student-athletes; maintains positive working relationships with sports medicine and strength and conditioning; and performs administrative duties including: student-athlete academic monitoring and eligibility; budget and roster management; and organization and scheduling of practices, home games, clinics, and fund-raising.
The Head Coach is responsible for team and coaching staff compliance to Department, institutional, conference, and NCAA rules and bylaws which govern the program. This includes monitoring student-athlete conduct to ensure the behavior of the athletes reflects favorably on the program, the Department, the College, and on the students themselves.
The Head Coach is a valued member of the Athletic Staff and contributes to the mission of MCLA and the Athletic Department. The Head Coach must maintain a good working relationship with all student-athletes, staff, and external constituencies through a positive and constructive approach to all tasks. The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, the Division III ideal and the important role intercollegiate athletics plays in higher education. The Head Coach will conform to the highest standards of professional conduct regarding compliance with the policies and regulations of the Department, College, NCAA and MASCAC, of which the College is a member.
Any staff member who is found in violation of NCAA regulations shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective action set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedure and in accordance with the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, and a staff member may be suspended without pay or terminated if the coach is found to be involved in deliberate and serious violations of NCAA regulations.
Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma
Demonstrated sport knowledge and high school playing experience as a minimum.
One to three years of high school head coach or college coaching as an assistant or head coach
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's/Master's degree in athletic related field; coaching certifications
Collegiate competitive playing experience
Three to five years of experience as a collegiate assistant coach or head coach
