Tecumseh, NE
This position is responsible for providing assistance to the Physical Therapists by performing direct patient care t and the written documentation included in this care.
Supervision - Physical Therapist (PT)
Specifications -
- Must be currently licensed as a Licensed PTA in state of NE
-Previous experience in a PT department is preferred
1. Works with school-based pediatrics, inpatient, outpatient, skilled care patient and home health patients.
2. Maintains communication with the supervising Physical Therapists (PT) in regard to departmental activities, personnel issues and patient status by written documentation and/or verbal communication of appropriate information.
3. Assess and documents the needs, problems and progress of the patients for whom he/she has primary responsibility throughout the Patient's course of therapy each time the patient is seen.
4. Provides patient care based on patient care plans outlined by the Physical Therapist. Performs prescribed procedures completely and safely according to established protocol. Documents on each patient each time that they provide care. 
5. Documents discharge planning as directed by the Physical Therapist, including home treatment programs, supplies information required for referral forms, and scheduled outpatient treatment. Acquires signature of PT on necessary documents.
6. Initiates and documents patient/family teaching consistent with established guidelines.
7. Participates in the teaching of departmental and patient care techniques.
8. Uses professional judgment, carries out physician orders accurately, completely and promptly. Clarifies when necessary and documents information.
9. Informs PT and/or physician of changes in patient's condition or proposed changes in treatment when indicated.
10. Reviews pertinent literature/journals and attends seminars/conferences which will further the development of PT practices.
11. Licensed PTA shall not perform evaluation, alter or change treatment plans.
12. Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Sits, stands and walks most of work day intermittently.
- May have to assist in moving and supporting patients and may be subject to strain.
- This position is classified by OSHA as a Class II position.
-Applicants will be assigned to work primarily indoors, with possible outdoor work, and may be required to travel to other facilities.
