Defense contractor involved with product development and manufacturing of various systems for military aerospace and vehicles in the Los Angeles International Airport area is searching for an experienced Materials Program Manager. With a 60 year foundation, The Marvin Group supports all branches of the Department of Defense and allies around the globe on an array of programs and platforms. We support many military prime contractors including Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinates releases of Engineering Change Requests (ECR) from Research & Development (R&D) Engineering for new product releases supporting development programs for new carriage and release equipment (bomb racks, missile launchers).
2. Liaison to Manufacturing Engineering in support of creation of Material Masters and Bill of Materials (BOM) in SAP.
3. Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to conduct detailed BOM materials reviews, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and determination of risk levels.
4. Prepare and provide status reports for material lines of balance, material cost versus budget, schedule, and risks and opportunities for assigned Program.
5. Contributor to Change Control Board (CCB) meetings, tracks and manages CCB dispositions, and ensures closure of CCB meeting actions related to material.
6. Coordinates releases and approvals of Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders to fulfill material demands for R&D Programs. Liaison between R&D Engineering, Technical Program Managers (TPM), Production Planners, and R&D Procurement.
7. Tracks and manages inventory position supporting pre-production builds for R&D Programs (engineering assets, qualification test assets, customer deliverables, etc.).
8. Drive development and implementation of strategies for material procurement, including contribution to make vs. buy decisions, ensuring optimal availability of on-time materials.
9. Tracks and manages “as designed” BOMs in collaboration with TPMs and R&D Engineering.
10. Tracks and manages “as built” BOMs in collaboration with TPMs and R&D Engineering.
11. Contributor to Material Review Board and Systems Engineering Technical Review (SETR) events for material, inventory position, and related information.
12. Assess and manage material costs for cost realism, cost competitiveness, cost increases, and adherence to Program budget.
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor’s degree required. Concentration in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or Engineering preferred.
2. Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in Material Program Management.
3. Awareness/experience with materials and manufacturing techniques common to Defense, Military and/or Aerospace applications.
4. Proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning systems. SAP preferred.
5. Familiarity with industry standards and best practices associated with supply chain.
6. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Technical Program Managers, Product Realization Engineers, R&D Engineers, Procurement, Quality, and Production Planning.
8. Preferred experience with Defense, Military and/or Aerospace processes and requirements.
9. Ability to work successfully in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment.
10. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
11. Proven track record of providing technical leadership in this role’s focus areas.
12. Other duties as assigned.
