The Parts Manager manages parts operations within the dealership to provide the highest level of external and internal customer satisfaction while maximizing return on investment through parts sales, inventory control, and expense control. Optimizes parts department processes. Attracts, retains, and effectively engages department personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates, monitors and enforces effective Parts Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction
  • Delegates daily duties to department employees including not limited to: receipting of parts, stock showroom part shelves, run outstanding transfer report, process stock order parts and verifies generic reports
  • Executes Parts Department marketing plan and promotions and monitors to ensure achievement of department goals
  • Maintains an accurate and effective parts inventory control system that includes a perpetual and/or annual physical inventory and proper counter procedures
  • Submits all parts warranty and return claims within the required time frame to receive maximum credit
  • Ensures all department tools and equipment are in good working order
  • Manages staffing and employee development activities for employees reporting to this position
  • Coaches’ employees in department to provide best in class customer experience focusing on welcoming skills and usage of customer names during all interactions
  • Participates in store Enterprise Meetings to provide good communication between departments and promote teamwork at the location
  • Completes periodic customer calls to promote promotions, deepen relationships and grow sales
  • Monitors open parts tickets, no bin and negative on hand reports, reviews freight recovery charges and oversees any customer discounts
  • Works with service manager at location to make sure service needs are met
  • Complete semi-annual performance evaluations of employees and coaches to desired results

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge

  • College degree or similar work experience with focus on sales
  • 3 years experience in parts department operations or related sales management experience
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends
  • Experience connecting with customers, maintain professional image, establish rapport
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously without supervision
  • If not already completed, will complete all training required for Level 1 Certified Parts Professional AND any applicable training required for Level 2 Certified Parts Professional
  • Experience using standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet applications
