Ophthalmic Assistant

Marshfield Medical Centers in Eau Claire, Marshfield, and Beaver Dam seek Ophthalmic Assistants and Ophthalmic Assistants II. These positions may be eligible for a sign on bonus.

The Ophthalmic Assistant functions as a member of the healthcare team by providing basic ophthalmic, technical and clerical support to assist providers in providing for patient care, comfort, and safety. The individual will complete optometric/ophthalmic tests and measurements as ordered by the provider and will assist providers with procedures. The Ophthalmic Assistant performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health Systems’ (MCHS) mission, policies, and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality.

The Ophthalmic Assistant II functions as a member of the healthcare team by providing basic ophthalmic, technical and clerical support to assist providers in providing for patient care, comfort, and safety. The individual will complete optometric/ophthalmic tests and measurements as ordered by the provider and will assist providers with procedures. The Ophthalmic Assistant II performs in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health Systems’ (MCHS) mission, policies, and initiatives while maintaining patient confidentiality.

Requires:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in a medical field or customer service experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of employment

Preferred:

  • Graduate of a medical assistant program.
  • Successful completion of a medical terminology course
  • One year of prior Ophthalmic experience. Certified Ophthalmic Assistant certification may be accepted in lieu of one year experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association at time of hire.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant certification awarded by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO).
