Mariners Christian School is Hiring a Front Desk Receptionist Near Costa Mesa, CA

Title: Front DeskReceptionist

Start date: Mid-August 2024

Schedule: 11:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (may waive ½ hour lunch break)

Contract year: Traditional School Year (August to June)

Job Type: Part-time

Hourly Range: $19-$22. The rate of pay within the specified range may be adjusted at any time by the appointing authority based on the candidates' qualifications, prior experience, education level, etc.

Reports to: Senior Administrative Assistant

Non-instructional:

  • Experience is preferred, but not required. The applicant must show willingness and ability to comply with and execute all components contained in the job description.
  • Be willing to receive specialized training for his/her position.

General Description

The Front Desk Receptionist is responsible for managing all activity processed through the front lobby. This includes all incoming calls, greeting and directing visitors, management of deliveries and mail, and providing general information regarding school events. Additionally, this position is responsible for attendance recording and monitoring attendance requests through the online platform.

I. Receptionist

  • Monitors main school entrance and classroom hallway entrances, allowing or preventing entry via door security system
  • Maintains an awareness of safety and closely collaborates and communicates with school Security Guard and Administration regarding any concern
  • Greets and directs visitors, parents, and substitutes
  • Manages and records late arrivals and early dismissals according to required practices and policies
  • Manages incoming phone calls and general emails
  • Maintains awareness of school events to provide information as necessary
  • Understands the organizational structure and is familiar with all staff to direct individuals appropriately
  • Maintains neat/tidy appearance of front lobby
  • Implements emergency and operation procedures designated to the position

II. Attendance

  • Records and monitors attendance in school database
  • Manages absence list and attendance reports

III. Mail and Deliveries

  • Distributes mail
  • Receives deliveries and packages; notifies addressees
  • Maintains staff mailboxes
  • Notifies post office and delivery services of school closures

IV. Miscellaneous

  • Provides support to Administration, Admissions, and Advancement with various projects
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to multi-task and manage an active lobby
  • Flexibility and ability to manage stressful situations with composure and calm

  • Maintain a lifestyle consistent with the moral standards stated in the Mariners Christian School handbook and the Declaration of Moral Integrity.
  • Be in agreement with and sign the MCS Statement of Faith.
  • Have criminal history clearance. (Fingerprinting specific to MCS to be arranged at hiring.)
