Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! MCCS is a comprehensive set of programs that supports and enhances the quality of life for Marines, Sailors, and their families, and others in the Marine Corps Community. This position is located at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kane'ohe Bay. Candidates selected for this position will serve as a NF5 Director of Marine Corps Community Services Hawaii.

Major Duties

Serves as Director of the Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) organization at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. The organization is comprised of five primary component areas: Retail and Services, Marine and Family Programs/Services, Semper Fit, Food and Hospitality, and Recreation. The incumbent reports directly to the Commanding Officer of the base. With a primary focus on the resilience of individual Marines, Sailors, and their families, is responsible for developing MCCS business strategies, ensuring policy and procedural compliance, and measuring the organization's performance and correcting failing strategies. Responsible for all aspects of fiscal activities including the development and administration of an overall operating budget. Plans, reviews, interprets and implements policies established by higher authority. Resolves financial, personnel, and operational problems that impact on the effectiveness of MCCS programs. Represents the MCCS organization to members of Congress, members of the community, other organizations and other commands on matters concerning MCCS projects and programs. Sets priorities and establishes methods and time frames for accomplishment of MCCS projects.

Heads a broad and diverse team - leading by example with an emphasis on professionalism and courtesy. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Develops and ensures implementation of an activity safety program in accordance with the Base Safety Program. Ensures safety training is provided to employees. Ensures minimal loss of duty by complying with “Return To Work” program initiatives, and following up on employee well being. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A minimum of five years of executive-level experience which demonstrates: 1) possession of management principles in planning, coordinating, and attaining the goals and financial objectives of a large and diverse customer-oriented organization, 2) a thorough knowledge of current business practices and economic principles with the ability to analyze current and developing trends, and 3) proven ability to make improvements in operating programs through innovative marketing, personnel management, and retailing. A four-year degree with a business major from an accredited college or university and knowledge of Marine Corps staff procedures and organization is highly desirable. Must possess above average oral and written communication skills and ability to deal with individuals on different levels such as Congressional members, high-ranking military officers, etc. This is a management position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. Must attain and retain Tier 3 suitability clearance as required.
