We Require
Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner educational program
Valid unrestricted license to practice as a Nurse practitioner issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing and in good standing
We Also Value
Clinical experience with emphasis in chronic care or treatment of communicable diseases.
Bilingual skills in English and Spanish
Job Contributions
Obtain patient health history, perform examinations, assess patient needs, and establish a working diagnosis
Determine and perform appropriate medical procedures as indicated by diagnosis
Prescribe and dispense medication in accordance with state and federal regulations
Document subjective and objective findings in a complete and organized manner
Prepare client assessments and client plans in a clear, logical manner
Provide basic health education and counseling
Coordinate medical resources to meet patient needs
Order appropriate imaging and laboratory tests as indicated
Teach healthcare workers in training (including nursing, nurse practitioners, medical students, medical residents, and fellows) how to obtain a health history, perform a clinical examination, diagnose, and treat sexually transmitted diseases
Working Conditions
Work occurs primarily in a clinical setting but may be required to work at various locations and in a field environment or mobile healthcare unit
Position may rotate in a provider, on-call rotation
Travel may be required to attend conferences, trainings, and varying work locations using a County or private vehicle
Ability to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergency
Valid Arizona driver's license is required upon hire
Current CPR and First Aid Certification is required upon hire
Within one month of hire, all employees are required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
