Maricopa Community Colleges’ District Office is seeking a Leaves and Disability Analyst to join its award-winning Human Resources department. This role will provide pivotal support to our employees through the review, administration, and maintenance of our Short-Term and Long-Term Disability processes. This opportunity will have districtwide impact by working cross-functionally with multiple departments, benefits administrators, and college locations to ensure employees needs are being met. The successful candidate should be comfortable with presenting and engaging with individuals as well as groups, in addition to being able to provide detailed reports and program analysis to Human Resources leadership. A working knowledge of applicable laws and policies related to Leaves and Disability will also be necessary for success.

50% - Serves as the business process owner and subject matter expert, a conduit between benefit provider, payroll, benefits, HRSC, HR local college, and local site supervisor; works with Leaves department to determine eligibility and evaluates FMLA and medical leaves status based on federal and state and Maricopa policies and procedures; validates the accuracy of the disability rates and coverage schedule, and evaluates eligibility and determines the disability benefit plan based on employment status, leave status, and payroll premium deductions research in HCM and ADP systems. Maintains a disability excel sheet containing status, notes, and data sets to inform the Director of an employee’s disability timeline.
20% - Answer general and specific employees’ inquiries. Establish and maintain a cadence of facilitating conversations with employees to ascertain success and challenges with their disability journey; establish a meeting cadence with the Leaves, Unpaid Leaves, and ADA interactive business process owners to determine the appropriate accommodation if needed, and other employee-based benefit-related solutions.
10% - Preparing and generating weekly claim disability reports to inform the employer of the disability status and as input to the LOA database; periodical (once a month and annual) prepare disability reports and performance dashboards to gauge success and challenges and for Director use in benefits-related meetings and discussions.
10% - Monitor employment laws and maintain awareness and compliance with regulatory changes. Perform all system user acceptance testing and production validation for PUM, plan changes, file feed error scenarios, and open enrollment regression testing; assess the website for up-to-date information and resources. Submit content updates to the SharePoint Web Tracker as needed and per the bi-annual website update schedule. Verify content added and confirm completion with the website content editor; perform other duties as assigned.
10% - Provide individual and group presentations during open enrollment and as part of the education tracker. Analyzing benefit provider’s proposed presentation for plan accuracy
Presents at the Employee Advisory Committee, a governing board-sanctioned council, as needed.
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in human resources or related field and two (2) years of professional level human resources experience in area of assignment which includes specialized knowledge of human resources policies and practices related to the administration and implementation of programs.

Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and four (4) years of professional level human resources experience in area of assignment which includes specialized knowledge of human resources policies and practices related to the administration and implementation of programs.
OR
High School Diploma or GED and six (6) years of professional level human resources experience in area of assignment which includes specialized knowledge of human resources policies and practices related to the administration and implementation of programs.
A. Two (2) years of experience in the administration, application, or maintenance of benefits programs
B. Strong written and verbal communication skills, as demonstrated through the submitted application materials
C. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace; demonstrated understanding given particularly to cultural competency
D. Strong organizational skills
E. Demonstrated ability to work independently and maintain self-motivation
F. Demonstrated ability to work with discretion regarding highly confidential material
G. Previous experience in a higher education institution
