Job Summary

Provides academic advisement to new, continuing and returning students either in-person or virtually with high levels of accuracy and customer service. Advises students regarding degree and graduation requirements, various certificate programs, university transfer requirements, and academic probation/suspension status. May evaluate unofficial transcripts, equivalency of transfer credit and compute GPA's. Assists students with program planning, educational planning and course selection. Assists faculty and staff with the processing and coordination of athletic educational opportunities. Provides student service program support, advisement and information resource referrals.
Essential Functions

40% Acts as an initial point of contact for students and responds to student inquires via in person, phone or electronically for the Athletics Program. Assesses and identifies the students' needs to determine the level of support in academic advising; such as compiling grade information to ensure guidance and coaching is provided to students as needed, and to improve student development, retention, and completion.
25% Assists with the implementation of policies and procedures, gathers data and prepares documentation to a variety of stakeholders regarding student success and details of events, utilizing SIS, HMS, FMS and Microsoft Office and Google Suite
15% Providing a high level of customer service while ordering team equipment, working with vendors, and maintenance of small equipment (assembling and tightening)
10% Works with and directs the work of temporary employees, work study employees, and volunteer workers
10% Assists with planning, coordination, and implementation of game management including selling tickets, ticketing taking, equipment setting up and taking down, and information regarding equipment check in and out. Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, and one year full-time of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.
OR
An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
Desired Qualifications
  1. One (1) or more years' experience working collaboratively with all levels of secondary or higher education including students, staff, faculty, and administration.
  2. One (1) or more years' experience providing academic advisement to new or continuing students
  3. One (1) or more years' experience working with vendors
  4. One (1) or more years' experience working with athletic coaches, and/or as an athletic equipment manager
  5. Excellent communications skills. Attach Cover Letter addressing how Minimum and Desired Qualifications are met, include specific examples. Letter should demonstrate applicant's composition, grammar and spelling skills, and attention to detail
Special Working Conditions
  • Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving:
  • Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense
  • May be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations
  • May require numerous evenings or weekends
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
  • May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs
