Description

Position: Bartender

Job Summary:

Responsible for day to day operation of a specific bar or bars; providing excellent service, food and or beverage and a fun, clean atmosphere to internal and external Guests according to Brand and Resort standards and expectations. Provides excellent product knowledge interacts with Guests in a variety of indoor and outdoor open air locations. Ensures a strong focus on an optimal Guest experience. Creates and maintains an atmosphere that induces guest to make Margaritaville Resort Biloxi their entertainment choice on the Gulf Coast and maintains a high standard of employee relations at all times. Maintains a high quality property appearance at all times. Ensures efficient quality service. Remains in compliance with all department and company policies and procedures, internal controls and government relations. May attend periodic meetings and training sessions. Welcomes and greets arriving and departing guests. Proactively provides our guests with personal service and attention that exceeds their expectations. Accountable for maintaining high service and quality standards according to brand standards, including Quality Assurance Inspections and Guest Satisfaction Surveys.

Provide general information while maintaining four-diamond, four-star service to guests. Ensure that the companys Mission Statement and Vision Statement are continuously met.

Job Duties: Daily Operations

As a Bartender your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Constant execution of Margaritaville Resort Biloxi standards and policies.
  • Ensure excellent relations with guests and other team members.
  • Maintains integrity of your Food and Beverage operations.
  • Understand, comply with and enforce:
    • All Company policies, procedures, and operating standards.
    • All federal/state/local laws and ordinances.
  • Provide friendly, courteous service to all Guests in a manner that guarantees they intend to return and make Margaritaville Resort Biloxi their entertainment choice on the Gulf Coast.
    • Ensure Guests receive immediate, friendly and personalized service.
    • Verify all Guest that purchase alcohol are at least 21 years of age; ensure alcohol is consumed in designated area only.
    • Deliver accurate food and beverage orders in a timely manner.
    • Communicate with and establish report with all Guests; get to know Guest by name.
    • Make Guests happy by exceeding service expectations.
    • Resolve Guest complaints quickly and/or notify a Supervisor or Manager immediately.
    • Make eye contact and greet Guests with a warm smile.
    • Guide Guests through menu, answer questions thoroughly, and suggest specific items; provide information about venue and the Resort.
    • Deliver accurate orders.
  • Present food and beverages to Guest as soon as soon as they are prepared.
    • Possess full knowledge of food and beverage products served and utilize suggestive selling techniques.
    • Prepare all beverages according to recipes and procedures.
    • Conduct final quality check on food and beverages before serving to the Guest; maintain specifications by only serving items that are made properly.
  • Ensure a high standard of service efficiency, sanitation, and training.
    • Take orders and accurately enter into POS.
    • Follow all proper cash handling procedures.
    • Clean all spilled drinks, excess liquor, broken glass and other debris in a timely fashion.
    • Keep floor clean and free of debris.
    • Use and maintain all tools and equipment safely.
    • Complete required and ongoing training for the position.
    • Assist management in training new Staff Members within department when applicable
  • Prioritize and complete all assigned station task, sidework, and station set up for maximum productively and efficiency.
    • Complete all opening, running, and closing duties.
    • Maintain cleanliness of bar, glassware, utensils counters and ashtrays.
    • Assist with stocking the bar with liquor, beer, wine, juices, mixes, glassware, utensils, cocktail napkins, fresh cut fruit, garnishes, etc.
    • Provide aid to Barback when applicable.
    • Track spilled or waste items.
    • Ask for help whenever it is needed.
  • Ensure a harassment-free environment through proper personal conduct.
  • Use respectful language with Guests, Staff Members, Supervisors and Managers at all times.
  • Respond appropriately in emergency situations to avoid danger to self, Staff Members, and Guests; remain calm at all times.
  • Conduct inventory of all liquor and bar related supplies.
  • Follow proper ordering procedures to maintain appropriate par levels of all bar related products; notify Supervisor or Manager of low inventory.
  • Understand, comply with, and enforce all company policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to responsible alcohol service established by company policy.
  • Understand and utilize all safety and sanitation practices as defined in the safety program; report any accidents.
  • Understands and is proficient in all systems and tools to perform duties.
  • Assist in loss prevention by practicing proper security safeguards.
  • Have strong knowledge of hotel facilities and services, and local attractions.
  • Accountable for maintaining high service and quality standards according to brand standards, including Quality Assurance Inspections and Guest Satisfaction Surveys.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.   1. High school diploma or GED preferred.
  2. 1 to 2 years serving in a high volume Food and Beverage environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  3. Must be Twenty-One years of age or older.
  4. Able to free-pour to recipe and specification; extensive knowledge of mixed cocktails and frozen drinks.
  5. Good reading, writing, mathematical and communication skills.
  6. Ability to interact professionally with other departments and outside contacts.
  7. Ability to complete a heavy workload and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  8. Good judgment and decision making abilities.
  9. Health permit/food safety and Alcohol Awareness. Staff Member is required to obtain cards individually and provide proof of possession prior to first day of employment subject to local laws and regulations.
  10. Cash handling skills required.
  11. Must be able to represent the Resort in a positive manner when in public view, public settings, on Social Media or other area or times that could become public knowledge.

Physical Requirements:

On a continuous basis, stand or sit for long periods of time, intermittently twist to reach equipment or supplies, perform simple grasping and fine manipulation; use telephone and computer keyboard on a daily basis.

  1. The incumbent should be able to stand continuously for periods over 1 hour.
  2. Incumbent must be able to communicate clearly. Long hours sometimes may be required. Medium work Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 30 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  3. Pushing, pulling and lifting objects from lower to higher position or higher to lower position or moving objects horizontally, from position to position and be able to grasp objects while bending, stooping, standing, sitting or walking.
  4. Will be required to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing or crouching in narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
  5. Will be required to balance and carry heavy trays of beverages and or food to and from tables.
  6. Climbing and ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps.
  7. Hearing sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
  8. Must be able to communicate clearly with our Guest in English.
  9. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus both indoors and outdoors.
  10. May occasional travel for training purposes or other business needs.
  11. May be required to work, in a changing indoor and outdoor environment, such as bright sunlight, noise, wind, rain, cold, snow, heat, smoke etc.
  12. Must poses sufficient dexterity of hand in order to use office equipment including, but not limited to: a computer keyboard, calculator, scanners general office equipment and mulita-line telephone.
  13. Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  14. Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  15. Must work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
  16. Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by coworkers, guest, and members.
  17. Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, and cooperativeness.
