We are assisting our client, Action Floor Systems, with the recruitment and selection of a strategic Controller. Action Floor Systems is a leader in sport floor systems and flooring and subfloor manufacturing. Action is known for innovation and customer service with an outstanding brand.
This position is in-person and located in Mercer, Wisconsin, with some flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement.
The Controller will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and be responsible for managing all financial and accounting operations. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of accounting expertise, strategic financial acumen, and leadership skills to support the company's financial health and long-term growth objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of financial management and accounting, including financial planning, budget management, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Ensure compliance with statutory law and financial regulations, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of changes in financial regulations and legislation.
Develop and implement robust financial strategies aligned with the company's overall strategic goals.
Lead, coach, and develop the finance team, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team, providing insightful analysis and recommendations to inform decision-making.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior executives to identify their needs and seek a full range of business solutions.
Drive the financial planning of the company by analyzing its performance and risks.
Lead the preparation of financial statements and operating reports, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards.
Oversee and ensure timely and accurate processing of transactions and accounting data.
Regularly review financial statements and operating reports with the management team.
Assess organizational performance against budget with the management team.
Lead the development and implementation of policies and procedures regarding finance, accounting, and tax matters.
Remain knowledgeable and informed of the financial market and regulatory changes, advising leadership of changes and adjusts policies and procedures to maintain in compliance.
Manage the tax compliance and return preparation process with a CPA firm and collaborate with tax advisors to initiate and optimize appropriate strategies to improve after-tax cash flow.
Evaluate and manage financial risks, including implementing internal controls and mitigation strategies.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related business field
CPA license is not required, but preferred
Minimum of 5 years of finance leadership experience, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
Extensive experience in accounting and finance, with a proven track record of managing accounting records, financial forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data to make informed decisions.
Demonstrated business acumen, understanding the impacts of financial decisions on the business's overall strategy and operations.
Excellent organizational skills, with the capability to streamline financial operations and enhance efficiency.
Skilled at leading, directing, and developing a finance team, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages growth and learning.
Unwavering integrity and ethics, with a strong sense of duty to uphold honesty and transparency in all financial dealings.
Strong understanding of GAAP, tax planning, business finance, and financial regulations.
Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
Exhibit high proficiency in all Microsoft Office suite applications.
Proficient with federal, state, and local income tax compliance.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position including, but not be limited to the following:
Office environment - use of office equipment including computer, telephone, copier/printer.
Ability to sit at a computer for an extended period.
Frequently required to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
