Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse will demonstrate proficiency in administering the fundamentals of nursing process, contribute to nursing assessment and the development of a nursing care plan, and participate in the evaluation of nursing care.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Supports nursing care standards through adherence to existing policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with DDS and CLA regulations.
• Provide and implement care for assigned caseload with an interdisciplinary team.
• Provide required and incidental inservicing for direct care staff.
• Obtains and documents nursing history that is comprehensive of present or prior problems. Conduct nursing assessments indicating adequate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology. Records vital signs, note changes, and pursues more specific investigation as needed. Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and shows a fundamental understanding of its implications by reporting information to physicians and others caring for the individuals supported by incorporating information into the nursing care plan.
• Establish effective systems for ensuring reliable data documentation and collections at each program. 
• Participate in clinical aspects of new program implementation and development. 
• Prepare quarterly and annual nursing reports for individuals supported in caseload. 
• Accepts accountability for the clinical care of individuals supported in assigned caseload.
• Provides instruction as needed to direct care staff.
• Throughout employment successfully meet and maintain the requirements of all certifications and training as established by regulatory bodies and the agency’s policies and procedures.
• Preserve the rights of all individuals served and their families by maintaining confidentiality as delineated in DDS licensing regulations, MARCH, Inc. policies and procedures and in accordance with HIPAA.
• Perform other related duties as requested.

Education and Experience:

• Current license to practice nursing in the State of Connecticut with at least two (2) years of professional nursing experience.
• At least 1 year of RN experience working with individuals diagnosed with intellectual/developmental disability (IDD).
• Experience with Department of Developmental Services (DDS) required.
• Work schedule flexibility. 
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a private vehicle.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Record system (EMR) Therap required.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, walking.
• Ability to bend, push, pull and lift.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
