As a senior staff accountant, you will ensure the integrity of the financial data and work in tandem with others using your accounting knowledge and skills to help drive the company’s success. We're growing the team and seeking a detail-oriented senior staff accountant to lead us as we continue to grow each year. The accountant is responsible for assisting in the accounting operations of the company, which includes assisting in the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports including income statements, balance sheets and internal management reports. Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) are accuracy and timeliness of reports, as well as establishing and maintaining professional relationships with co-workers. Work location is flexible depending on the candidate, including an in-office setting in Petoskey, MI, hybrid remote or fully remote.

Goals and Responsibilities Include

• Review general ledger entries for accuracy
• Complete account reconciliations, analyze data, and identify corrective actions
• Assist in the month-end financial closing process
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports and prepare variance analysis
• Review and verify that the monthly accounting processes are followed to ensure adherence to internal controls
• Ability to create and maintain financial models to support business decisions
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities
• Verify information and monitor procedures to ensure compliance with accounting procedures
• Assist other accounting staff with completing their tasks, if needed 
• Perform other related duties as directed 

Required Technical /Other Skills and Abilities

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• Minimum 5 years of experience working in an accounting department with similar responsibilities
