Overview:

The Assistant Manager of Shelter Case Management is responsible for supporting the case management and client services of various shelters across North Central Massachusetts. The Assistant Manager of Shelter Case Management provides a constant presence for the families residing at the Shelter by ensuring their needs are met. Working in coordination with the Shelter Manager, and under the supervision of the Director of Shelter Case Management, the position always provides a professional presence, providing guidance and supervision to the case management team, ensuring families are receiving quality case management services and the program’s compliance with EOHLC Shelter Scope of Services.

Hours: 8am – 4pm/9am -5pm

Responsibilities Include:

  • The Assistant Manager of Shelter Case Management serves as an onsite staff presence to families residing in the Shelter and assists case managers with establishing goals for families in order to achieve our overall placement goal.
  • Track case management efforts to ensure compliance with EOHLC Shelter Scope of Services.
  • The Assistant Manager of Shelter Case Management ensures that all residents are abiding by shelter rules and enforce the rules as necessary.
  • Ensure all new families entering shelter are assigned a case manager, and immediate needs are met.
  • Maintain accuracy of various spreadsheets and reports.
  • The Assistant Manager of Shelter Case Management maintains an accurate log of the case managers’ progress towards rehousing goals.
  • Ensure that all transportation utilized by residents is properly recorded and communicated.
  • The Assistant Manager of Shelter Case Management responds to crises, with back-up from the Shelter Manager and/or the Director of Shelter Operations and Director of Shelter Case Management.
  • Provide supervision and accountability for case management staff.
  • Attending all EOHLC meetings and training, as needed, determined by the Director of Shelter Case Management.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Shelter Manager and Director of Shelter Case Management.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • 5 years’ experience in the human service field
  • 2 years’ experience working within the State’s Family Emergency Assistance Shelter Program funded by EOHLC.
  • Training in CPR and First Aid
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and the ability to understand the needs of homeless families.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to set limits in a fair and supportive way.
  • Ability to think creatively and respond to crises quickly and calmly.
  • Ability to always maintain a polite and professional demeanor.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience in shelter, housing, housing stabilization, clinical service, trauma-informed care.
  • Experience developing culturally and linguistically diverse programs for individuals and families from diverse socio-economic, racial, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Prominent commitment to DEI and ability to lead the cultural competency dialogue and planning over the long term in a sustainable manner.
  • Preferred multi-lingual or bilingual abilities
  • Adaptable in the face of conflict with multiple and changing priorities.

Work Authorization:

  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be 18 years or older.
