Job Title: Physician Practice Administrator Job Location: Lincoln Immediate Supervisor: Vice President and CFO Status: Exempt JOB OVERVIEW Responsible for the leadership, organization and direction of Physician Services Business Segment, certain contracted services and evaluation of new collaboration and/or affiliation opportunities for Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals. Responsible for effective clinic operations including the supervision of Physician Services Manager and staff. Negotiates and manages contracts with external provider groups to meet hospital coverage needs, including the contracts for the Physician Medicine and Rehabilitation residency program. Conducts regular analysis of financial outcomes for Physician Services and physician practice budget. Serves as the Administrative and Physician Service Business Segment Leader. Assists physician leaders in planning, managing, and coordinating the delivery of quality physician services. Assists with completion of financial feasibility studies related to new business opportunities/institutional affiliation agreements. Responsible for compliance with state and federal regulations related to physician practice and Physician Services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Develop and implement a strategic long range plan for the physician infrastructure and systems necessary for Madonna’s achievement of its vision and strategic long range plan. 2. Ensure service processes are in place for dialogue regarding business and medical ethics issues within the context of current medical practice, Catholic ethical principles and consistent with the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Healthcare Services. Participate in Medical Executive Committee meetings and others as assigned. 3. Develop quantifiable expectations/plans, metrics, and tracking mechanisms for new business development projects. 4. Monitor and maintain the physician functions in accordance with professional, federal, state and facility regulations/guidelines. 5. Synthesize, coordinate, analyze, compile and compute operational and capital budgets for the physician services business segment to maintain expenses and revenue within acceptable limits and in accordance with facility guidelines. 6. Analyze data from financial and practice management reports to manage department and services 7. Coordinate, analyze and compile business segment goals and objectives. 8. Create, coordinate, analyze and compile documents and personnel records, (i.e., job descriptions, performance reviews, new staff orientation) and contracts 9. Provide a leadership role in exploring and utilizing efficient and effective new technology to the greatest extent possible. 10. Maintain awareness of physician practice current trends, problems and medical activities to assist with facilitating policy making. 11. Work with other organizations for outsourced contracted services, maintaining optimal business agreements, collaborative relationships and excellent customer service. 12. Analyze legislative issues that impact physician practices and clinics and coordinate advocacy efforts for the benefit of the facility or for advocacy for people with activity limitations. 13. Supervise Physician Services Manager, staff and clinic operations to ensure continuity of care and accountability for quality outcomes. Hires, coaches, conducts performance reviews and discipline on employee performance to achieve Madonna’s goals and objectives. Communicates with assigned staff to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, maintain open communication, and contribute to retention of employees with quality service deliver 14. Work with the CMO and credentialing and privileging manager to develop standards and processes for the evaluation of medical provider proficiency through the use of Focused Professional Practice Evaluations (FPPE) and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE). 15. Provide timely, consistent ongoing and effective communication and collaboration with supervisor, physician leaders, and other hospital leadership as appropriate in order to share or inform of situations which may impact the department or facility. 16. Coordinate and oversee operational changes within the physician practice and in the Physician Services clinics. 17. In conjunction with campus senior medical directors, participates in physician recruitment including contract negotiation. Collaborates with Human Resources, Finance, Legal department and others in contract development and renewals. 18. Support campus senior medical directors in recruitment of specialty and subspecialty providers to provide hospital coverage. 19. Provide leadership in monitoring external physician contracts including development of metrics specific to each contract and organized communication process of results. 20. Negotiate with physician vendors and providers to secure contracts for services. 21. Instruct and orient new physician practice staff and managers to Madonna goals, systems approach, objectives, policies, procedures and Madonna’s mission and Core Values to ensure quality service delivery. 22. Follow instruction from supervisor to perform other functions as assigned in order to achieve the goals within the department and/or system. 23. Provides own transportation for frequent travel between Madonna’s Omaha and Lincoln hospital campuses. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Clinical or rehabilitation related area required. Ten years supervisory and management experience required. Five of the ten years must include administrative and operational oversight, program and project development and contract negotiation. Five years supervisory and management experience in ancillary or physician practice management preferred. Must maintain valid Nebraska driver’s license and proof of good driving record.
