Position Overview

Maclay School is actively seeking dynamic and versatile Middle School Teachers for the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year (We are always open to applications from qualified individuals who align with our educational philosophy and values.). Our goal extends beyond finding subject matter experts; we aim to build a robust pipeline of educators who are passionate about holistic student development. The ideal candidates will have a strong foundation in teaching middle school-aged students, with a proven track record of fostering academic excellence and personal growth. A deep understanding of best practices in adolescent education, coupled with expertise in engaging instructional strategies, is essential. We value educators who are adept in addressing the unique challenges and opportunities of middle school education, including literacy and numeracy skills enhancement, social-emotional learning, and the integration of technology in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement engaging and differentiated lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs and interests of middle school students.
  • Deliver instruction across a range of subjects, adapting teaching methods to support individual learning styles and promote critical thinking.
  • Assess student progress through a variety of assessment tools, providing timely and constructive feedback to encourage academic and personal growth.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports social-emotional learning and fosters a sense of community among students.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians, sharing student achievements and collaborating on strategies to support student success.
  • Participate actively in professional development programs and collaborative teaching initiatives to enhance educational practices and contribute to the school's vision.
  • Utilize technology and innovative educational tools to enrich the learning experience and prepare students for a rapidly evolving digital world.

Qualifications


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education is required; a Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in elementary education, underscored by a robust understanding of teaching methodologies and practices.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging students and building rapport with parents.
  • A commitment to professional growth, underscored by a growth-minded approach and a demonstrated desire for continuous professional development.
  • Proficiency in designing and leading whole group, small group, and individual instruction, tailored to meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Familiarity with the Understanding by Design framework, differentiated instruction, and standards-referenced curriculum and assessment.
  • Strong collaboration skills and a history of establishing effective partnerships with parents.
  • Outstanding personal recommendations.
