Staging/Rack Fabrication Technician

Position Overview:

The Staging/Rack Fabrication Technician will be responsible for adhering to company and industry standards for Installation, Commissioning and Quality Control to fulfill and exceed customer expectations.

Staging/Rack Fabrication Technician is mechanically skilled and responsible for staging (mock up) of jobs, loading firmware to devices, rack building, building frames and mounting devices, and documentation of equipment. They should have the ability to interpret specifications, read signal-flow diagrams and build to all functional drawings.

Primary Essential Job Duties:

• Responsible for Mock-up of systems, including unboxing, setup, loading firmware, working with programmers, and re-boxing/packing system back up for transport to client sight.
• Test integrated systems and perform troubleshooting when needed.
• Read and interpret electronic schematics.
• Conduct rack fabrication or have direct oversight and responsibility for those conducting fabrication, ensuring all racks are produced to M3 standards.
• Ensure all cabling is properly dressed and terminated per industry and M3 standards.
• Call manufacturers directly upon discovering failed equipment to set up return.
• Authorize and copy the Project Manager, Lead and NOC on all correspondence.
• Create, track, and close a project Punchlist & QC Checklist.
• Regular and predictable attendance as scheduled.
• Work cooperatively with others.

Secondary Job Duties:

• Work with shipping to repack equipment as needed.

Computer literacy and ability to learn and keep up with changing software/firmware

• Basic understanding of computer networking, including addressing, VLAN, and network hardware
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong knowledge of audio visual engineering fundamentals, control system programming/operation, digital and projection technologies
• Ability to manage multiple projects and task simultaneously
• Ability to work in fast pace, high stress work environment.
• Travel is required as related to project installation, coordination not expected to exceed 30% of the time
• Work hours and schedule may vary according to the needs of our customers
• Low-voltage systems familiarity a plus
• Ability to be attentive to direction and anticipate job needs
• Present in a professional manner

Education and Experience

• 3-5 years experience in engineering, installation or management of AV/video integrated systems
• Associate or Bachelors degree in related discipline preferred AVIXA CTS preferred
• Valid drivers license with appropriate driving record
• Prior Crestron toolbox experience a plus
