The Kingdom East School District is seeking a School Counselor for the Lyndon Town School, serving children in grades 5-8. The School Counselor's responsibilities include providing information to students, parents, and school staff, counseling students with personal and psychological issues, and addressing relevant issues in the school, such as school attendance, illegal drugs, teen pregnancy, and social adjustment issues. The School Counselor collaborates with other middle school staff to identify students in need, advocate for and develop plans to improve students' well-being, research and refer students and families to community resources, and oversee transitions to high schools. Duties include working with individuals, families or groups, and responding to students in crisis situations. Desired skills include empathy, patience, effective communication, organizational skills, critical thinking, cultural competence, and collaboration. The School Counselor collaborates with middle school teams and families in the collection, analysis, and response to student social, emotional, and behavioral actions, with the goal of student growth and success in the school environment. The School Counselor works as a team with our K-4 School Counselor, administration, and behavior personnel. We seek dynamic, creative candidates passionate about helping all students be successful.
