WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • We’re looking for an experienced Lead Full-Stack Engineer (web frontend and backend) to work on the development of our consumer flagship product, Lumosity.
  • In this role, you’ll work closely with engineering teammates to architect software systems, design and build software that is used by large numbers of users. You will also routinely interact with product managers, designers, domain experts, and stakeholders.
  • The ideal candidate has a track record of successfully shipping multiple software products, using different technical architectures and languages, that are used by large audiences and has a passion for cognitive health and wellness.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • The bulk of this position is hands-on coding
  • Lead the decision-making process with regard to system and code architecture
  • Lead the definition of implementation details (the “how”) by working with engineering teammates to create plans and documentation that explains how the software will be built, tested and delivered to customers
  • Technology we use to implement our software includes Node.js, TypeScript, React, and GraphQL, hosted on AWS
  • Help the business and product team define software requirements (the “what”) by collaborating with product managers, stakeholders and business leaders
  • Bring your knowledge and experience to bear to help the team make informed choices regarding system and code architecture within our existing tech stack ecosystem
  • Raise teammates’ skills by tapping into your years of experience to guide and mentor on topics like software system architecting solutions, coding best practices, breaking down tasks from requirements, estimating effort, and predictably meeting expectations
  • Raise your knowledge and skills by working collaboratively with teammates from various backgrounds, domain expertise and experience levels
  • Communicate with teammates, internal and external partners, and stakeholders
  • Participate in and help guide development processes that are agile and continuously improved
WHO YOU ARE
  • Coder at heart
  • Self starter, internally motivated
  • Energized when large numbers of people are using your software
  • Enthusiastic about small teams and working together to succeed
  • Eager to learn what’s necessary to fulfill responsibilities
  • Excited to help people tap into the full potential of their minds
  • Accomplished communicator
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and excited by lessening the unknown
  • Desire to proactively identify and mitigate risk
WHAT YOU HAVE
  • Significant industry experience, most likely 15 years or more
  • Worked on and delivered multiple software projects using various technologies
  • Experience working on well crafted, performant software systems that serve large numbers of users
  • Significant experience using a strongly typed language
  • Experience collaborating within a diverse team toward successful launches of software products (a collection of peer colleagues elevating the whole group)
  • A growth mindset
WHAT WE OFFER
  • The excitement and fun of an early-stage startup paired with the maturity and stability of a later-stage business with substantial revenue and company infrastructure.
  • A remote-first culture, building a team that spans the Eastern-to-Pacific U.S. time zones.
  • Competitive compensation packages, including salary and benefits on-par with later-stage companies, and equity options on-par with earlier-stage ones.
  • Flexible time off throughout the year to rest, reset, and recharge, and an end-of-year holiday break.
  • Generous company-sponsored medical, dental, and vision plans (options for individual, spouse and/or domestic partner, and family coverage).
  • Continuous learning budget for conferences, professional and skill development – think Udemy Courses, Coursera and books.
  • Monthly fitness, wellness, internet, coworking, and cell phone reimbursements.
