Job Title: Community Broadband Program Manager

Reports To: Senior Director, LA DEAL

Department Special Projects

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary: $75,000 to $85,000


Summary:

The Community Broadband Manager will support program administration, operations, and strategic alignment, playing a critical role in the development, implementation, and evolution of the Los Angeles Digital Equity Action League (LA DEAL) regional broadband consortium and related digital equity initiatives for LAEDC. The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking individual with at least 3 years of relevant experience, program management, stakeholder engagement, and administrative development. The Program Manager will report to and work alongside the LAEDC's Senior Director of LA DEAL to address broadband access in a systemic and equitable way through community representation and a strong infrastructure of civic leaders representing business, education, nonprofits, and government, so that both unserved and underserved communities have equal access to affordable, reliable, and high-speed internet service, and the devices and training to optimize their use.

The Community Broadband Program Manager will be tasked with aiding programmatic, communication, and administrative support to meet various grant objectives and deliverables. This role necessitates strong leadership along with an elevated level of research and reporting skills, and manage a wide variety of stakeholders, facilitating new opportunities within the digital equity ecosystem, and supporting programmatic alignment, communication, and targeted outcomes.

Duties:

  • Manage, staff, and assist in coordinating logistics for meetings, including agenda development, invitation out-reach, follow-up, attendance, and day-of check-in; meeting facilitation, as appropriate; and taking meeting notes.
  • Manage, gather, and organize information from various sources such as databases, reports, articles, computer files, and partner interviews to analyze information and identify opportunities.
  • Identify, collect, and analyze information, and present findings, devising new internal structures for an organizational component within the program.
  • Organize and deliver briefings to present findings, solutions, and recommendations to staff,

and prepares option papers and similar staff reports.

  • Develop and draft reports and presentations for internal and external audiences.
  • Gather data and develop a repository of resources to support programmatic efforts and disseminate to program partners.
  • Build and maintain new and existing partner relationships and develop new opportunities for collaboration.
  • Update and maintain external communications, including newsletters, event blasts, website updates, and other marketing materials.
  • Collect, curate, and develop PR-related content, copy, metrics, and images for use on the website and social media in partnership with all LAEDC teams.
  • Monitor, distill, and share policy developments, funding and resources opportunities, and other project-related developments.
  • Assist in the development and writing of grant and other funding opportunities.
  • Carry out additional duties and departmental projects as assigned.
  • Ensure all activities and duties support the LAEDC's strategic plan, mission, goals, and objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience: Associate degree from a community college or bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred; or four years related experience and/or training in workforce development; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer and Other Technical Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong and comprehensive proficiency in technology communication tools (email, video conferencing), office suite applications (Microsoft, Google, etc) in word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and databases, cloud-based tools, and the ability and comfort level to quickly learn related new technology applications.

Work Environment:

The work environment is currently "hybrid" with a portion of time spent working in the office and a portion of time spent working remote, at the discretion of the senior director.
