Longwood Gardens has exciting international internship opportunities for international students! This program is open to students currently enrolled in and pursuing studies at a degree or certificate granting post-secondary academic institution outside the United States or a student who has graduated from such institution no more than 12 months prior to the start of this program.

What You’ll Do: 

•Choose to experience 3 of our 7 areas of Horticulture during your 9-month internship/trainee program

•Engage in hands-on practical experiences through work rotations with our horticultural teams

•Participate in field trips with other Longwood students and have an opportunity to choose local conferences to attend

What You Gain:

•Work alongside and learn skills from our staff in such key areas as Conservatory, Display; Greenhouse Production; Outdoor Landscapes, Land Stewardship and Ecology; Integrated Pest Management, Woody Nursery, and Plant Information & Mapping

•Increase your knowledge of plant ID, care, and cultivation through work placements, field trips and student workshops

•Develop your professional network through a professional development allowance, attendance at conferences, and connecting with Longwood alumni

Qualifications:

•Demonstrated experience of interest and passion for horticulture through work experience, jobs, or volunteering

•High degree of motivation, organization, attention to detail, and willingness to work independently

•Occasional weekend support is required 

•The ability to lift 50 pounds and work in varying weather conditions

•Valid international driver’s license

Benefits:

•Hourly rate $19 an hour

•Medical insurance through Independence Administrators

•Free furnished housing on the grounds of Longwood Gardens with all utilities included except for cable. This is a taxable benefit.

•Time off: 9 days (1 day per month employed at Longwood Gardens)
