Position Summary 

The Material Handler is responsible for manual and clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing and delivering a variety of materials, equipment and supplies.
Pay Range: $20 per hour and up depending on experience

Responsibilities 

• Assist in maintaining the operation of a clean, orderly, functional and safe distribution warehouse.
• Ensure that workplace health and safety requirements are met in accordance with company policies and take responsibility for the security of the building and stock.
• Receives, counts, weighs and/or measures incoming inventory to compare identifying information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
• Examines incoming shipments for damage or shortages and corresponds with shipper to rectify; completes paperwork or forms required for documentation.
• Prepares and stages outgoing orders for will call or delivery in a timely manner to meet customer expectations.
• Determines method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates; prepares materials for shipping by weighing, packaging and stamping; prepares necessary shipping forms such as bills of lading.
• Performs customer counter sales by assisting customers in selection of the correct products, answering questions on products, price and availability, upsell accessories and components and pulling inventory for customers.
• Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize inventory.
• Participates in routing, counting and inspecting items while loading and unloading trucks; delivers and returns items.
• Transports orders consisting of materials, equipment, supplies, etc., to customers; secures cargo properly and safely with weight evenly distributed within the delivery vehicle.
• Participates in ordering or purchasing standard inventory items as directed by the warehouse supervisor or manager.
• Provides warehouse back-up in the event the warehouse supervisor is not available.
• Utilizes computerized or automated systems to accomplish tasks
• Support technicians in ensuring vehicles and other assets are repaired and in good working order.
• Maintain the tool room and ensure all tools are accounted for.
• Perform periodic manual labor in the field to support field technicians.

Required Qualifications 

• Minimum high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate
• Minimum 1 years of related work experience, preferably in a HVAC warehouse environment
• Ability to work at heights, lift loads up to 75 pounds, and operate warehouse equipment including forklifts
• Skill in operating large vehicles and the ability to maneuver in tight congested areas.
• Computer literacy and communication skills
