LoneStar is a leading global provider of standardized and custom high-performance fasteners, gaskets, and flow-control components to the oil and gas and the power generation industries. Headquartered in the UK, the group consists of 13 business units across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific, employing c.1,100 people worldwide, with global revenues in excess of $200m. The business is private equity backed and has completed a number of acquisitions in recent years. Following a change in control of the group in March 2023, the group has commenced a number of initiatives include investment in people and resource. This appointment is an important element of building the internal resources to facilitate the anticipated significant growth in the group over the next few years.
Position Summary
  • Job Title: ESG Manager
  • Business Unit: LoneStar Group
  • Reports To: Directly to the Chief Financial Officer
  • Based: UK (West Midlands or Leeds) or US (Houston, TX)
  • Working Scheme: Flexibility to offer hybrid scheme with 2 days working from home
The LoneStar ESG Manager is responsible for the ESG data discipline and reporting for the LoneStar Group; with accountability to meet and comply to ESG reporting and regulation requirements and produce data, insights and actions to shape the path to carbon neutrality, as well as being responsible for social and governance elements of the agenda. This will critically involve coordination and maturation of data processes and data disciplines to ensure data is gathered from all countries and businesses in scope to report their ESG data across all three GHG scopes as well as other key ESG related metrics over time.
The ESG Manager is also responsible for the development and integration of sustainability practices and ways of working into the LoneStar business. The Manager will oversee all elements of the environmental, social responsibility and governance issues to align LoneStar with ethical, sustainable and responsible practices, as well as investor targets objectives expected of their portfolio.
The role helps to enhance reputation, mitigate risks, increase value and promote long term sustainability. The ESG lead will work with a clear strategy and plan across all the dimensions and monitor and report progress and maturity.
Given the first few years of the role will include maturing the data and reporting foundations to comply with SECR and CRSD regulation, the role will report into finance.
Responsibilities
  • Strategy development – of the ESG agenda and aligning with the company’s existing goals and industry best practice
  • Stakeholder engagement – engage with internal and external stakeholders; employees, customers, communities and be the face of ESG in Lonestar
  • Regulatory compliance – ensure compliance with relevant ESG regulations and reporting requirements, staying abreast of changes in legislation across the counties in which LoneStar operates
  • ESG reporting – oversee the preparation and publication of comprehensive ESG reports, ensure accuracy and
  • transparency
  • Carbon footprint management – develop and implement strategies to reduce the company’s carbon footprint,
  • including energy efficiency and emissions reduction initiatives
  • Social Impact programs – lead the development and execution of programs that contribute to positive social impact such as D&I, community engagement
  • Ethical supply chain practices – monitor and enhance ethical and sustainable practices within the supply chain, collaborating with procurement teams and suppliers
  • Risk management – Identify and assess ESG related risks and opportunities, integrating them into the overall risk management framework
  • Employee training and awareness – Implement training programs to enhance employee awareness and understanding of ESG principles and their role in achieving sustainability goals
  • Waste reduction and resource efficiency – develop and implement initiatives to reduce waste generation, improve resource efficiency and promote circular economy practice
  • Continuous improvement – evaluate and improve ESG performance, seeking solutions and keeping abreast of industry best practice
  • Collaborate and communicate – communicate ESG goals, progress and achievements internally and externally fostering a culture of sustainability
Key Relationships
  • The role will have many interfaces and will be one of the most networked roles inside and outside the company.
  • The Manager will need to work in partnership with both the Finance, HR and the H&S teams globally, given the environmental, governance and social aspects of the role will partly be covered within these teams
  • The role must work across the different functions within the business, given the ESG data and initiatives will be owned in multiple places
  • The manager will also work, over time, to develop external partnerships with organizations around society/community aspects, as well as develop a network of other manufacturing companies around environmental propositions.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Should have experience (2-3 years) of working as an ESG Manager (including skills and experience of shaping and running the reporting and compliance elements of a carbon footprint) given LoneStar are only just starting on their journey.
  • The candidate should be used to starting things from scratch and embedded new policies and processes into a business.
  • Knowledge of carbon reporting and environmental data
  • Knowledge of HR and community work at a business level
  • Well networked in the ESG discipline (given it so broad)
  • Project Management skills are a major benefit to structuring plans and deploying the work
  • Travel required (20% - 30%)
  • 1-2 years of related experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment preferred
