Locust Hill Country Club is Hiring a Prep cook Near Pittsford, NY

About the Position

We are looking for a skilled prep Cook to join our team. The Cook will be responsible for preparing catering menu items in a timely manner while working under the guidance of the executive and sous chef on a daily basis.

Cooks are expected to prepare products, set up and break down their stations, cook all items to the LHCC standards, and assist team members with any miscellaneous tasks.

Compensation : $17 - $20.00 per hour.

Responsibilities :

  • Follow the prep list created by chefs to plan duties
  • Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
  • Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
  • Have excellent knife skills
  • Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc.
  • Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food etc.
  • Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees etc.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines
  • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
  • Have excellent time management and cleanliness
  • Work weekly onsite events when needed.

Skills

  • Proven experience as a prep cook / catering cook
  • Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen
  • Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
  • A team player with good communication skills
  • Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure
  • Very good physical condition and endurance
  • High school diploma or equivalent is desirable; Training from a culinary school will be an asset

Shift :

  • 8-hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Night shift
  • Weekly day range :
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as required

Experience :

  • Restaurant, catering, or institutional setting : 1 year (Preferred)
  • Cooking : 1 year (Preferred)
  • One year of relevant experience is preferred.

Physical Requirements :

  • Must be capable of sitting, standing, walking, using hands, and reaching with hands and arms.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. and perform strenuous lifting tasks.
