Lockhart Independent School District is Hiring an Early College Coordinator (2024-2025 SY) Near Lockhart, TX

Direct and manage assigned areas of instructional program and campus operations while modeling these district values and oversee assigned student activities and services.


Primary Purpose:

Lead the Early College High School Model and be a liaison between the campus and the Institute of Higher Education (IHE). Demonstrated Expertise in Texas High School Graduation Requirements, Personal Graduation Planning, Course Progression, Academic Advising, Transcript Audits, and Transfer Course Credit Analysis and Post-Secondary Planning with both students and their families. Knowledge and understanding of secondary academic coursework and assessment. Provide all pertinent information around programming to the school community and campus.


Qualifications:


Education/Certification:

Valid Texas Teaching Certification

Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work or related field

Masters’ Degree and a Texas School Counselor Certification or eligibility for a Texas School Counseling Certification preferred


Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledgeable about college and career preparation programs.

Skillful in providing consultation, training and coaching to counselors, teachers, administrators and other campus staff.

Requires effective analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to collect, organize, and analyze student data.


Experience:

3 years of experience in a public education setting as a teacher, counselor, social worker, behavior specialist, administrator or related position in college and career preparation programs is required.


Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Serves as a primary Early College High School (ECHS) resource for assigned high school. Builds and maintains a positive relationship between school and Institute of Higher Education (IHE).
  • Resolves concerns for program participants/students, faculty, and high schools; responds to emails, phone calls, and visitors, to meet student, parents, school, and faculty, and program needs.
  • Provide consultation and training to counselors, teachers and other campus staff on academic guidance, counseling, student intervention and post-graduation preparation programs.
  • Maintain regular communication with campus teams and campus principals to assure the effective delivery of academic counseling services and college and career preparation programs.
  • Engage in problem solving with principals, counselors and campus staff.
  • Establishes and maintains an active role on the assigned high school campus in order to recruit prospective students. Creates recruitment and advising materials for assigned high school campuses.
  • Serves as primary contact for Lockhart ISD and high school faculty teaching Institute of Higher Education (IHE) courses on the assigned high school campus; provides beginning semester information for assigned high schools.
  • Proficiency in data collection, interpretation, and utilization for informed decision-making in order to prepare statistical and narrative reports on the state of programming.
  • Support the coordination and effectiveness of other college and career programs in the district
  • Apply multi-tiered systems of support for student success
  • Effective problem-solving and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and communicate effectively.
  • Foster partnerships with educational institutions to align early college dual credit and dual enrollment programs, maximizing student opportunities for higher education credentials.
  • Maintain accurate information about Early College programs on the district website.
  • Develop transition policies and procedures for student advancement.
  • Organize school and community events promoting post-secondary awareness and preparedness.
  • Collaborate with Career and Technical Education department for integrated educational experiences.
  • Optimize resources and local partnerships to bridge the gap between high school and post-secondary education.
  • Support college, career, and military readiness events.
