This district-level position is located in Austin, Texas at the University of Texas-University Charter School. This 10-month position will have salary spread over 12 months. The College and Career Program Coordinator will work 194 days (traditional school calendar) from August 1st to May 31. This position requires regular routine travel to school campuses across the Austin and central Texas areas, and occasional travel to the Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston areas.

A new hire for this position will be required to attend paid new employee orientation on July 30, 2024 in Austin, Texas. The University of Texas-University Charter School is a public charter school and follows all state and federal regulations for public school services. The University of Texas-University Charter School is a part of the University of Texas at Austin’s College of Education.

  • Transcript analysis: Analyze high school academic transcripts as required by UT-UCS policy and procedures; crosswalk information from students that transfer from another district.
  • Student schedules: Provide administrators and registrars with recommended student schedules and additional elective options as needed.
  • Develop and maintain scope and sequence for the Methods for Academic and Personal Success (MAPS) course and provide professional development.
  • Collaborate with campus administration and develop transition activities such as parent information rights, career advising, college research, four-year planning, financial aid, college applications, letters of recommendation, college and military visits, campus initiatives, and graduation, etc.
  • Ensure FAFSAs are complete with all potential graduates.
  • Coordinate career exploration days at campuses (for example: TNC, MCH).
  • Coordinate college visits and virtual information sessions
  • Provide direct instruction and transition services to all students virtually and in-person support for potential graduates enrolled at UT Charter School on postsecondary college and career opportunities.
  • Help students assess and enhance their own goal setting, study methods, and habits through 1:1 meetings and support through MAPS course.
  • Review student data in educational software programs (Career Cruising) and create student portfolios upon discharge (12th graders and potential graduates).
  • Manage Career Cruising for district-wide use.
  • Provide support and collaboration in transition services with case managers, agency representatives, and or parents/guardians to assist in the transition of students into other schools or programs.
  • Train both educational and facility staff in the use of community programs and/or resources in education.
  • Collaborate with school and facility personnel to increase high school completion rate of students.
  • Focus on campuses with 12th graders/ potential graduates.
  • Develop and cultivate relationships with institutions of higher education, community organizations,
  • and foundation partners focused on successful postsecondary transitions to facilitate
  • postsecondary success action strategies and objectives.
  • Coordinates all aspects of the Dual Credit program.
  • Connect potential graduates to professionals in their potential future career for a virtual
  • conversation.
  • Collect, maintain and analyze data to monitor dual credit, CTE Programs of Study completion,
  • Industry-Based Certifications, Texas Success Initiates (TSI) status.
  • Coordinate TSI tutoring.
  • Work with counselors on the Austin Community College, San Antonio Community College and
  • McLennan Community College admission and enrollment process for senior students.
  • Coordinate senior-exit survey process. Ensure completion, prepare reports for the senior
  • administrative team.
  • Support campus principals and teachers in meeting program/campus/district goals.

Required: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university and at least one year experience counseling students in college and career counseling. General knowledge of curriculum and instruction. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a non-traditional school setting with special needs students of varying abilities and interests. Maintain awareness and understanding of the role that trauma may play in the lives of our students. Proficiency in technology and technology applications to the level specified by the district. This position requires fingerprinting. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred: School Counselor EC-12 certification
