POSITION PURPOSE

To positively serve the school/public in communicating information, problem solving, and materials acquisition. Performs general administrative support duties including data collection, scanning, and file maintenance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Greets visitors and staff upon arrival and departure, providing assistance as needed.
  • Performs general tasks in day-to-day function of position including scanning, filing, use of software programs, answering and directing phone calls, and general clerical duties.
  • Process staff absences and secures substitute coverage as needed.
  • Performs tasks and duties under direct supervision and uses well-defined policies and procedures. Work is reviewed by supervisor / upper management and there is some opportunity for independent judgment and decision making.
  • Utilizes the appropriate software applications, consistent with established District policy/procedure, to maintain records/files.
  • Performs other special assignments at supervisor’s request.

SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE

  • Assist in the general and day-to-day operations of Pathway School by assisting visitors, students, and staff

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School graduate or equivalent, and three years' office experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before parents, staff and students.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to multi-task projects while greeting visitors and staff.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Ability to type accurately and have strong computer skills. Knowledge of Google Suite Applicaitons. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is almost continuously required to sit, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and stand. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and continuously will repeat the same hand, arm or finger motion many times as in typing. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is continuously interacting with the staff and students. Strong organizational skills required to facilitate completion of tasks secondary to visitor or student interruptions.

The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
