Why We Need Your Talents :
A Prep Cook is responsible for providing a supportive role to kitchen staff in the preparation of meals and ingredients.
Food preparation, cooking and cleaning tasks ensure the kitchen remains efficient in creating and delivering a favorable dining experience for guests.
Responsibilities
Where You'll Make an Impact :
- Washing, chopping and sorting ingredients like fruits, vegetables and meats.
- Measuring quantities of seasonings and other cooking ingredients.
- Preparation of all raw and cooked foods.
- Adhering to all relevant nutrition and sanitary regulations and standards to ensure guest safety.
- Cleaning dishes, washing cooking utensils and cookware, taking out the trash and sanitizing kitchen.
- Keeping track of ingredient inventory and collaborating with staff to order resupply.
- Completing all tasks, in order, on the prep list from the Head Chef or other kitchen manager.
Skills to Help You Succeed :
- Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen.
- Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
- Organizational skills.

- Manual dexterity.

- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to communicate in English and fluently in either Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese & another Asian language.
Qualifications
Must-Haves :
- A high school diploma or equivalent GED is preferred.
- One (1) year kitchen experience needed. Preferably in an Asian Restaurant. On the job training may be available.
Physical Requirements :
- Ability to stand for long periods of time without sitting or leaning.
- Ability to bend, stoop and reach while carrying food product, equipment, trash / waste weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to lift, carry, deliver food items weighing up to 50 pounds throughout a scheduled shift.
- Ability to work around 500 degree ovens and work within 40 degree walk-in refrigerators.
- Ability to stand and walk continually throughout a 10 hr. shift.
